I saw this movie for the first time tonight, I have never seen the original. I was shocked to find how completely different this film is from what we all know of George Lucas. The cinematography and treatment seemed more along the line of something Kubrick would do. Anyways makes you think of the potential Lucas had when he was young, not to say that his other movies totally suck. Anyways was curious to know what u guys thought of this film.

THX1138 is not a bad film at all by any means and does show what the boy Lucas could do. It is though, you have to admit, quite dull.
As for his later output, you can't say he's done too badly out of it.

The extras are really worth it, especially the documentary on Disc 2 about American Zeotrope. There's also a great audio-only isolated track on the DVD (I know I'll sample it in some future work of mine), and a nice commentary track. Don't buy the single disc.
I still wonder why that film wasn't nominated for Sound or Sound Editing at the Oscars back then. Probably way ahead of the people back then.
