the song "tische" by einstürzende neubauten consists of the
sound that occurs when you pull tables. but that information
is rather not that obscure.

Keith Hudson is apparently a pretty excellent Dub producer,
who i've slept on for some time...
the Animal Collective have a whole bunch of releases coming
out right now (including a collab EP with Vashti Bunyan, a
collab between Panda Bear and some minimal techno dude,
which is called "Jane", and another Terrestrial Tones
release)

rob hall, darrell fitton, andy maddocks, mike williamson.

up to 20 people all told, but autechre call anything they
release on skam 'gescom' regardless of other people or not,
so i've heard.

gescom tr2a was played quite a bit during autechre's
confield tour

Melvins (with David Yow) Blockbuster - from "The
Crybaby" on ipecac. it's the third part of the melvins
"trilogy" (the maggot, the bootlicker, the crybaby). the
crybaby album features lots of covers (re-interpretations)
and guest stars on every track. "blockbuster" is originally
a song by the jesus lizard (yow's band, as you know).

it was originally on the "pure" lp. the pure album featured
a drum machine instead of a drummer (steve albini later made
some comment about how he felt the band should have waited
until they found a real drummer before recording this
album). it is my own contention that this fact is probably
why the melvins version features electronic drums.

from the liner notes of the crybaby:

Written by the Jesus Lizard
David Yow/vocals
Kevin/bass, slide bass
Dale/Mattel Drums, guitar
Buzz/guitar

David Yow: What more can be said? Dave reminds us why we
liked punk rock in the first place. Unbridled musical
mayhem. Dave recorded the vocal the way he sings live, half
tanked and half dressed. We spent more time watching him
and getting plastered than we did recording and we enjoyed
every minute of it. He did three or four takes, careening
wildly around the studio like a sawed-off inebriant with a
mic and that was it. A very beautiful thing. Thank you
Dave, you're a beautiful man.

KMD What a nigga know is a criticism of the way some racist
white people consider black people ; for them black people
are only able to do some things and not others

The Jesus Lizard Cold Water - appeared on both the
S/T ep (1997, jetset) as well as the Blue ep (1998,
capitol). they seem to be the same exact recording. both
are credited as being produced by andy gill and (re)mixed by
joe barresi.

Duane Denison - guitar
James Kimball - drums
David Wm. Sims - bass
David Yow - vocals

lyrics:
Three people I don't know
Their stairwell
My wheelchair
Their needle
The basement
Six inches of cold water
I begged them I pleaded
Don't do this I'm not dreaming
No nightmare
Nobody
Can hear me
My wheelchair
This basement
Is flooding
Twelve inches of cold water
I begged them
I pleaded
Don't do this I'm not dreaming
It's cool to get the feeling
That you have gone through it without assistance
Just leave on hand against a wall
And you can lead yourself out of the labyrinth
Three people
I don't know
Their stairwell
My wheelchair
Their needle
The basement
Six inches of cold water
I begged them
I pleaded
Don't do this I'm not dreaming
No nightmare
Nobody
Can hear me
My wheelchair
This basement
Is flooding
Twelve inches of cold water
I begged them
I pleaded
Don't do this
I'm not dreaming
It's cool to get the feeling
That you have gone through it without assistance
Just leave on hand against a wall
And you can lead yourself out of the labyrinth
And I was amazed at the ease of delivery
But if you lose contact
you'll be stuck and I doubt you'll be leaving

The Velvet underground White light, white heat -
title track from their classic 1968 record. imo, their best
record - get this one if you haven't already. don't know
much more about it, though, sorry.

thank you all!

r40f, that's way more info but thanks for a nice read! :)

only a short remark is needed..a sentence or two. it's that
info they read before they play the song on radio. not much
of a playlist, but they wanted we bring our own cds
(originals) this time and i only have big artists in my
collection so it turned out real um, well, too many big
names..

shannon wrote an update (it's on the site):

May 8, 2005, Here we are, this year of Peacetika is almost
halfway over already. We've been busy putting the finishing
touches on the songs for our new full-length CD. We are
entering on final negotiations label-wise. We have about 15
songs so far, which will probably be whittled down to 12 or
13 by release time later this summer. It is tentatively
titled STABBED BY AND ANGEL (An Aferican in Cock Asia).
Ideally, we'd like to release the song PILLOW TALK as a
single in early summer - it's got "Summer Party Song"
written all over it.

Other Songs include OUT OF AFERICA, JAWS OF LIFE, COCK ASIA,
YOU D' ETAT, MR. INNOCENT, THROUGH, SPINNING PENNY, STABBED
BY AN ANGEL, I GOTTA..., BROOKLYNTOWN ROMEO, and THE
OBSCENARY. If you've seen us live in the last six months and
heard a song you don't recognize, it was probably one of
these, and so you know this album is gonna kick your ass in.
With this country's ravenous slide into the greasy shit-hole
of FASCISM (and to anyone who just winced at that sentence -
fuck you) and my utter boredom with SHOW-BIZ, NEW YORK
STYLE, we're gonna come out slashing at anything that moves.
I mean,if we must fiddle whilst ROME burns (and that is,
after all, our chosen profession) then it ought at least be
honest, fearless, and deadly accurate (as well as cathartic
and fuckable) it is a far, far better thing we do than...,
uh, well you get the idea...

On a lighter note, I recently did and interview with a woman
for the COLUMBIA WIRE SERVICE. It seems she found the name
of our band "amusing." Of course editing is everything but
we had a long chat with a lot of laughs. Keep your eyes
peeled - we 'throw it up on the site if we run across it. If
you happen to write for a NEWSPAPER or FANZINE, feel free to
drop us and email. We just love to share our thoughts.
opinions, and reminisces - we SHOW FOLD are very egocentric
that way.target=blank>

the heroine sheiks song is a cover. it's originally by
sonny boy williamson, a blues musician. the lyrics, in
shannon selberg fashion, were re-written to be sick and
hilarious and creepy.

it's one of my favorites off that record.

definitely have to be shannon of the cows and the heroine

public enemy 'how to kill a radio consultant' was actually
(in its early stages) co-written with Chris Rea. Chris,
himself a radio consultant at the time, eventually left,
feeling the pressure of keeping the group together and flava
flav's interminably yelping.
