What's happening to AFX?

Vordhosbn could not have been on HAB. Vordhosbn is far more
intricate. I understand what you are saying woofer, but I
don't agree at all.

And SAD?! You are SAD reflex. And who said we should write
and complain? That is also a SAD comment.

When did it becomes RDjs duty to please you? He's making
the fucking music and you should either appreciate it for
what it is or don't pay attention to him at all. All this
whinning about "rdj didnt suck my dick and make the sounds i
wanna hear" is ridiculous.

Obviously the rhythm of drukqs are totally differents from
Surfing on Sine Waves or SAW 85-92, etc...
You should compared Drukqs to album like Hangable Autobulb,
Richard D. James album, Come to Daddy, etc...
Anyway has a personal opinion so... it's better to speak
about Kylie Minogue... ;)

I understand what you feel about liking drukqs but still
wanting that he comes with some inovation again, like in the
past.
I cant still analize drukqs as you do, cos it was the first
thing i listened from afx, so i still havent got the
perspective to realise that it was not as innovative as he
was till 1997...
today the postman brought me caustic window compilation... i
alrady love it... i think I am gonna like it more than
classics

the old composers couldn't even hear the music that they
were writing...now that is amazing.
i don't think any artists today can be compared to that, not
even afx.

absolutely agree...
when they say afx is the new mozart, well i think thats a
bit too much... i mean, go and listen some mozart, go and
listen his requiem... thats a bit too far from any other
human... even aphex

I don't think comparing the new prepared piano pieces from
AFX to the impressionistic works from Debussy is a good
match-up; their intent is different I think. Try and dig up
some of the old John Cage prepared piano works and listen to
those. Is AFX playing the prepared piano pieces himself? Or
did he find some tricky way of triggering the instrument
electronically. If you tell me its all samples I won't
believe you. Anyone know?

hmmm Canerfold is right.

Aphex never said that these tracks are shite no no no no no.
He REALLY CARED about these tracks and he wanted to release
them as soon as possible because he left a mp3 player with
all those tracks on it atleast thats what Richard "shit on
the press" James says.

LEFTOVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean listen to the drill stuff on Drukqs and tell me its
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, although it's not quite Drill N' Bass I'd say that
Richard Devine is about 300 times ass complex as that. Just
get SWAP, TRIGGER. That song has at least 2000 samples in
it, and the beats are never the same

ive been listening to AFX for about 2 years now, and i found
it fascinating that i couldnt just listen to the RDJ album,
or some of the Hangable Autobulb EP straight away. I almost
had to listen to his music in order of release to get into
it. I started with SAW, Mike & Rich and SAW II. Then
progressed to SOSW and ICBYD. and now, just as Drukqs is
released i'm listening to the harder Drill 'n' Bass stuff
from the later albums.

I'm a DJ and have recently bought the white label '2 Remixes
by AFX' and was blown away by the 2 completely different
tunes. This is proof the The Aphex Twin is still being
innovative in his work and I hope that Drukqs will not be
the last we see of him.

If anyone hasn't heard these tracks yet, I urge you to do
so.

Aphex Twin is an autobot.
He has transformed into Squarepusher!

Just listen to how he treats his songs, sounds like they
spend to much time yogether!

Drukqs isn't very innovative, true, but I feel the tracks
are better than the ones before them. More of the same, but
still an improvement. Vordhosbn and Cockver10 are better
than anything on the RDJ Album, I think.

Still, I hope his next release truly IS revolutionary.

Its no way near the finesse of drukqs.

YOU SERIOUSLY COMPARED Devine with AFX!?

i always thought richard d. james was more like the new
beethoven than the new mozart - he identifies himself more
with erik satie tho, and i guess it shows in the piano
pieces; reminiscent of the gnossienes in ambience and
melody.

as to his previous releases, i don't believe that the
caustic window compilation is particularly groundbreaking,
nor surfing on sine waves; i thought expert knob twiddlers
was mainly dull and amateurish. even SAWII, thought
astonishingly amazing, isn't groundbreaking really - think
of the early ambient pioneers, and you can trace the
lineage...

i would say his most innovative song would have to be

He said in an interview that drukqs was his last real
commercial release. So i can expect him putting out more
experimental stuff on his new label, thats if he can find mr
jenkinson....

If he doesn't want to share his insanity tinted brilliance,
I'll listen to otto von schirach, autechre, crunch,
funkstorung, richard devine, phoenecia...
