one of the finer releases out so far this year imho... certainly one of the best hip hop albums. Edan's really grown as a producer since his last proper lp... the beats are all very firmly rooted in hiphophistory, but they don't really sound derivative at all... very dusted, and fairly freeform... plus as an MC he's quite on point this time, good flow, old skool enunciation, capable collaborators (Percee P, Insight, and Mr. Lif <---who doesn't suck when he isn't surrounded by obnoxious consciousnuss headz), a sense of humour AND: he doesn't spend the whole time rapping about how rap is dying and how ill his flow is.

it's great but i prefer primitive plus overall, 'promised land' is probably my favourite track of his though
