I gots me Ambient 1 and 4. I hear good stuffs about Apollo. I've never seen 2 or 3.
Thing is 1/1 on Ambient 1 is completely perfect. But the rest isn't as good as 4.

"Thursday afternoon", "Discreet music" and "Neroli" is a must!
(The 16:08 long track "Ikebukuro" on "The shutov assembly" is awesome too...)
I like the long ambient pieces, the short ones a fine too, but those are scattered among several cds... (the instrumental eno 3 CD box is a good start, I started with that one - and bought all albums afterwards)

I never got that strip. I just don't get it.
Also: Apollo is excellent. An Ending (Ascent) = perfect.

some favorites:
apollo the pearl/plateaux of mirror discreet music
try pitch shifting "an ending (ascent)" down 50%. It sounds great, and it's twice as long!

plateaux of mirror is quite nice... although it's probably more harold budd on that one... but still good...

harold budd + piano = excellent
his solo piano sounds as good or better unadorned as it does when eno tweaked it.
let me iterate my suggestion that you pitchshift "an ending (ascent)" down 50% and then play it very loud. just a suggestion...
