this was a fantastic experience!! i was expecting a lot but
i got even more than i could ask for. these guys can do a
proper live act, not just laptop thing but serious live
music! the videos play important role, as they sort of build
music around the videos which they play directly from video
camera. the opening song was a video piece - 4 screens in
one all showing the same short scene on repeat - a hand
slapping an arse. the music for entire piece is only made
from those slapping sounds (speeded up, slowed down, played
in reverse..), the next thing was quite..um, well,
unexpected as martin pulls his pants and underpants down and
i (as everyone else) thought we were going to see something
obscene, but then he (luckly) just bend over drew's lap and
he then started to slap martin's arse..it turned out real
neat actually :) the next awesome part was when they played
some cool vid that was shot from inside of some piano, and
martin (drew is in charge of melodies and beats and martin
is producing all sorts of odd sounds over it) started to
brush the piano strings with an electric toothbrush,
producing awesome sound with it. he then proceeded to play
piano for a while which was real nice. then they played sort
of tribal piece with some odd flutes and brass, and then
drew asked someone in the audience (the guy was the only one
who was able to blow enough so it was making sound) to play
that and it turned out real great. then they played some
trancy/ambient parts and then some weird piece with both of
them blowing in the same tube making weird sounds. people
were loving it so they had to come up for two more times
after they finishe dand they were just out of ideas, or so
they said, so they were just playing around with pots,
bells, piano, percussion and they asked that guy from the
audience to come join them again and he then played some
percussion as well, nothing major but still turned out
great. it were all songs they haven't released yet, and most
likely never will..fantastic gig! i'll definitely go see
them ag
