Just heard the end of "Richard Devine - Across The Cell
Wall" on limbik frequencies and it was unlike any of his
other stuff i'd heard - which i found mostly ultra-noisy and
boring.

What's his best stuff? and anyone know what release this
song is from?

Off the cell wall is actually a compilation from various
noise producers. They were given a concept "write a song
about the structure of a specific part of a membrane for a
certain cell". Honestly, though, thats probly one of his
most boring songs.

His stuff isn't actually noisy, its just very busy
(thousands upon thousands of sounds hapening within a
3-7minute span), and hard for a lot of people to wrap their
head around. Its quite melodic and rhythmical when you get
into it.

BTW, the comp isn't worthwhile to seek out. There is only
one other song on it that is remotely passable.

or so of it and could've wasted my time downloading the
compilation..

what devine albums would you reccomend?

i saw him live a couple of weeks ago....
I was a little dissapointed... the show turned to trance,
psychedelic, rave like stuff midway through... But the
first half hour was excellent!!!

the best stuff is probably to be found on compilations,
there are some old schematic comps that have some very nice
melodic RD tracks on them, the e.p. that came out on WARP is
very cold and boring though, albeit extremly well
programmed.

His stuff is immensely complex, and very detailed. However,
I can rarely easily enjoy it, and it can get a bit samey for
me.

I love it when he creates a perfect fusion of dark
atmosphrics and complex glitchy beats.

I really enjoy the new album, but then again I do find
myself having to be in the mood for his stuff. But of all
of his albums I still like Lipswitch the best.

Pretty much the only one I can't get into is aleamapper.
Maybe, if you want the more melodic stuff, you can try to
find the richard coleman devine ep.

Asect:dsect and Cautilla are perfect.

I personally really enjoy Lipswitch, it's a nice rounded
album in that it leads you in and back out pretty well. I
don't have any of his other works and the best I could
describe this would be as hearing an androids brain. Worth
checking out I guess. His remix of Come to Daddy sums up the
sound of this album, so maybe check that first to decide.

One of my favorites of his is the track on the Lilly of the
Valley compilation. Its got a good mix of abstraction,
complexity and some melody.
