stealing or buying?

Of the music/movies/software you have, what percentage
would you say is purchased instead of downloaded for
"educational purposes"?

Music: xx%?
Movies: xx%?
Software: xx%?

If you have one, what is your stance on this?

Music: 95% (basically, if i like it, i'll buy it)
movies: 100% (i've never downloaded a movie aside from porn,
and those were publicly released)
software: 100% (i'll only download demos. that being said, i
haven't bought a piece of computer software in many years)

I have a bunch of cd's, but about 95% of my music is stolen.
Most of it I don't listen to, and I buy the artists I like.
Pretty much all its done is stop me from paying hard earned
money for albums I end up selling at 1/5 of the price I pay
for it.

I pretty much own most of my music, so about 2% is stolen. I
don't like downloading movies. They usually look like shit.

Software; about 60% of it is freeware, so I would say 40% is
stolen. If I could afford it I would. Thats all the
justification I need. (I also suggest software to many
people who pay for it, so my advice actually makes the
software companies money that they wouldn't have made if I
hadn't have stolen it)

Music 90% purchased, I sometimes try before I buy tho
Movies 70% purchased, I download a lot of tv episodes which
probably counts.
software 60% purchased, I buy the stuff I use the most, I
think software is overpriced, but with piracy i suppose it
has to be, swings and roundabouts i guess.

of the h20 paradox artic shizain out there.

music: 60% maybe... not sure, i could make the
precise percentage of this but i don't have enough time to
lose with this and i'd probably get it wrong anyway ^^

movies: never downloaded any. (probably one of the
reasons why i have such a poor cinematographic culture : P i
have the tendency to wait until they air on tv... which can
take a lot of time.)

software: do video games count? i buy video games
(for consoles). but it's been years since i last bought any
computer software.

Music 70% : "I"ll buy it if i like it"
Movies 1% : I buy nearly all my movies and sometimes
download advance previews
Software 100% : dont pay for it, muahahah

i try to buy cds of the music i like, i don't when the cd is
out of print (obviously) or really hard to find, when it's
copy-protected (boycott), or when it's overpriced... (or
sometimes if i have like four or five albums bought from a
same artist/same band, i won't mind downloading one)

music: 25%
movies:80%
software:50%

estimated percent purchased.

my stance? I guess i realize it's wrong. but most of the
stuff i steal, i wouldn't have bought anyway. i espcially
hate buying cd's because they get damaged so easily. one of
the last cd's i bought was Prefuse 73 and the fucking cd was
scratched to shit within a week because the package was such
a piece of crap. not the new album but the one before.

acutally, i probably own like 95% of my movies. but that's
going to change. i have Netflix and a DVD burner now so i
pretty much jack any movie i like. i don't download them
though... so i am still kinda paying for them... kinda.

Music: Probably about 10% of the whole collection,
but i've got a lot of music from when i didn't have interneb
access. It's more like 50/50 nowadays.
Movies: I'm on 56k, nuff said.
Software: Apart from a few programs that came bundled
with the soundcard, i don't think i've ever bought any
software. That said, i do use a lot of shareware/freeware.
Fucking no chance i'm paying for windows though.

95% of the music I listen to is bought, the remaining 5% is
either too hard to come by, impossible to get, or just too
damned pricey 'cause it has to be imported.

100% of the movies I own are bought, but I have quite a bit
of fansubbed animé that hasn't been licensed or is even
available here.

50% of the software, but in the case of this type of
software, I just play with it. If I ever make money on
something I use some of the software for I'll buy the
software.

music: This is a tough one because I do have a lot of
downloaded stuff that I only enjoy a few tracks and dont
really think getting the album is worth the money. Then
theres albums that I buy multiple copies of, like Bola's -
FYUTI which i have on CD, Vinyl and Collectors Vinyl. So if
I had to take a guess: 50%

Movies: Does this include TV show series? If so, then 75%,
if not then 50%

Software: I use a lot of free stuff. I'd say 75% I actually
own.
