isn't this the film when they tell us how Anakin Skyknobber
becomes Darth Vader?

hmmm sounds like the whole plot is very predictable for a
poor weasel such as myself with little intelligence for much
other than the usual suspense and intrigue...give me Wind in
the Willows any day!

saw it last evening.

I think it's okay - better than I and II, but still not more
than okay.

I just got back. It was good.. not great, but definately
good.

It had some definate cheesy/not well done parts, but for the
most part it was fun, and had some very nice moment.

now, it's way too late, and I have to be up soon.

Hayden Christensen was still SHIT but he's learned some
acting since Clones at least. I still can't understand how
for god's sake he got the part of Anakin.

i agree with q_Mod - better than I and II. a lot better in
places.

Driving back home through thick morning fog at 3am was fun,
too :)

i just watched the first episode of "Battlestar Galattica"
and 2 minutes of that beats the shit out of SW 1/2 anyday.

I'll still go see III just to see how bad it all got and cos
i do enjoy big spectacles, good or bad.

I thought lucas was on a roll developing anakin's turmoil
for a while. I almost started to feel for him when he was
being played by palpy and the jedi council at the same time.
It started to feel like he truly was a tragic character for
30 minutes or so. Being too powerful for even himself to
control, starting training too late, just making a series of
understandable but wrong judgement calls... I was actually
starting to care a little.

But then, he sorta pledged himself to palps too quick and
was a little too remorseless (is that even a word?)... that
broke the momentum.

I agree, the character was fully tragic. The transition to
the dark side was quite well shown. Throughout the film i
almost accepted Hayden , but somewhere in the final part his
lame "burst of anger" made me think "oh no, not again".
Someone please explain why Lucas chose that actor.

Well to be fair Hayden has got a bit better this time round,
he's obviously been to drama classes. He was chosen because
he looked the part and it was presumed that he could act
well...hmm...

...I think I would have made quite a nice ewok

I agree, his switch to Palpatine went a bit too.. quickly.

Lucas was building it up quite well too, with Palpatine
telling that myth about the über-Sith (which I expected to
be Palpatine's mentor - but HEY! Lucas didn't take that
obvious route!).

and I thought the basic idea of Anakin wanting to save Padme
was okay, although I thought the threat of her dying wasn't
very imminent - okay, he had a vision and he had a vision
before about his mother (Mary) dying, but that was still a
bit iffy.

especially when later on she was dying because she didn't
want to live anymore. that had me packing my bags for
Groansville, I can tell you.

also later on, when Anakin goes into Full Sith Mode when he
talks to Padme and says he can blow away Sidious/Palpatine
anytime he wants to - I didn't think that was so good - this
whole idea of wanting absolute power never really crops up
in Eps 4 to 6. I never got the idea that Vader was more than
doing what the Emperor wanted in the Real Trilogy, well..
except for the last bit in "Return of the Jedi"..

well, you could always explain why Vader gave up his "dreams
of power" . i guess the ppl at star wars forum have many
answers in that matter.

as Padme didn't want to live without him, perhaps he didn't
want to rule the galaxy without her. so romantic !

although, that looks kinda wrong, since it says palp uses
the force to revive anakin... which isn't true because
palpatine says that he never learned how to manipulate
life/death.
