love'em. their english is often confusing though. i sent an
email for some tickets reservations and i did it in english
first and they replied in english but i wasn't sure what
they meant so i sent next one in italian and the reply i got
was OK!

now that's all fine, it's just that question(s) i sent are
not the kind of questions one can answer with ok! uh oh!

There was some poll a while back in which Italians were
voted as the most popular Europeans - friendliest, etc.

ah, they're excellent! my favourite europeans as well! it's
just that my english is a tad better than my italian but i
should know by now that their english is probably more
confusing than my italian :)

it isn't for a vacation, it's for matmos gig next saturday!
apperantly they made a reservation but i'll have to pick up
the tickets by 8pm eventhough the gig won't start before
22pm..it's a cool city though (trieste) and not far from
here so we'll just chill on the beach for those two hours or
something..

tridenti, why do you presume i can't comprehend italian? i
study linguistics after all.

I dispised your presence here on the board long before you
were made a privileged user by echnidiarb, it's just that
(and this is the reason he did it, i believe) when he made
you privileged, it meant you would stay, instead of fucking
off.

kinda. although we're only a year into the course and have
just studied phonetics, phonology and syntax. syntax is very
interesting -- but at the same time very bland.

what degree are you doing? i'm doing it with computer
science and german - so really it's a degree in
Computational Linguistics and German..

it's all very interesting, but since it's concerned with
breaking language down into its most elementary parts, can
be very mundane. if you love language, though, go for it.
don't expect it to open up any new job prospects, that's for
sure though :)

obviously)

maybe it's better you change 'translator'

isn't it?

don't blame me, blame google translator.. did a good job of
translating your italian though.

(as a side note to drunken mastah, this is the sort of stuff
i'll be working on, hopefully, when my degree is done..
computerised translation.. which is buggered with many, many
problems)

you're cunty behaviour isnt funny and seems forced

something?

it's not meant to be funny. it's meant to be fucking
vicious. i don't like the guy because the majority of his
posts are pointless and it pisses me off to waste time
reading and decyphering them.

and don't fucking say "WELL IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIS POSTS THEN
DON'T READ THEM, OMG ZING LOLZ" because i come across his
posts in ALL fucking topics (to get his points score up) and
they just piss me off.

especially the ones with just ";)" in them. christ.

I'm doing philosophy, and I've always had a good knack for
languages (if I just bother to look at them), and I like
that basic stuff, like prepositions are most often short
words and stuff like that.. it's also interesting to see how
restrictions and non-existing concepts in a language affect
how people think to such an extent... and how it is worked
around (I think it's japanese that doesn't have words for
the colors, and then they just use words describing
something with that color? and some of the south-american
languages have interesting twists too, I think)... I guess
if I'm doing linguistics, I'll probably throw in latin too
to get some "roots."

i'm not sure whether babelfish is powered by the same engine

powered by the same search engine as google).
