you mean BPM?
in any case.. are you doing something "live," or are you using a program? In which case, which program?

tempo is subjective (slow, moderate, fast), generally, but you can measure from beat to beat with a wav editor and see how many beats will fit into a minute...
or you can cut a loop of a bar or beat and put it into reason and adjust the bpm until it loops properly without overlapping or gapping, and see what bpm you're at...

it'll be a hard work because when he plays the guitar, the tempo can change a bit _ it's not like when you program music on a computer

that'll be hard to get exact, because i'm sure unless he's experienced in playing with a metronome his tempo will vary...
you're better off cutting up his playing into segments and editing, i think...
but you could try chopping out a bar at a time and using clicks to see what precise tempo/bpm each bar works out to...very tedious, though...

just as a note, im sure it wont work for this, because its just a guitar, but audacity has a function 'beat finder' which tries to mark the beats.
just for future reference you know.

Tap out the beats and count how many there are in a minute. If there's not a minutes worth of music then loop it appropriately to find a minutes worth. However many beats you count in 1 minute is the Beats Per Minute :)
