Just read slaugherhouse-five. A short book but very immersive, I couldn't put it down and finished it in one sitting.
I hear theres a movie for this novel, does it live up to the book?
Well thats a bit of a dumb question, a film never succeeds its novel.

No. The film does very much bad for the novel.
Vonnegut never translates well. The narrative never sticks in film, and the dialogue always ends up being less potent when you hear it spoken by someone than in your head.

Dunno about the film, but it's a very good book. Galapagos (another of his books) is very good too, even if it's factually inaccurate (slated by some biologists).

Other good ones;
Cats cradle Hocus pocus Breakfast of Champions\
Those are my favorite three. Just as good as SH5, or better. One that deserves mentioning, though, is Slapstick, which has one of the most unique settings of all his books, and Bluebeard, which is just a nice story.

i found an mp3 clip of kurt vonnegut reading from this novel... i forget where, but its existence meant there's probably a full recording if you're interested. i mention it! because i found it such fun to hear him interpret his own dialogue, seemed like he got a kick out of it, lol.

I found it slow for the first 30 pages or so, but it picks up really fast after that. Like most of Kurt Vonneguts books.
