What do you think of having a user-updatable xltronic
discography?
Maybe incorporating wiki technology?

yea, why the fuck not, or like discogs with strict
gatekeepers

This has been mentioned so many times with everyone but Phob
liking it.

you mean like at discogs.com?

I find the cx bashing about 30 million times more tedious
than he is.

the mods can hardly keep the board in check - who are these
gatekeepers going to be?

It wouldn't be terribly difficult to set up a form with
fields for Artist, Label, Catalogue Number, Year, Track
lists, Track Times, and then an upload images box at the
bottom. It gets sent to a special email address set up for
discog submissions. Buddy in charge looks through the
entries and updates the discog.

Just need a volounteer with write access to the discog.

oh.. it isn't about cx anymore. it has become something
beyond the user... it's.. what he was/is.

so I was referring to the fact that we could be facing
twenty million new entries for every new rumored release.

the mods, they know all those releases anyway, after a time
you can trust certain contributors so you dont have to
listen every sample..

it could potentially just be more work - checking facts,
etc.

besides, it has been suggested time and time again and
phobiazero has said no each and everytime.

There should be an upload form.

Fill it out.

Wait for moderator approval.

Bam, updated discogs.

that's the point - mods aren't around enough to keep the
board in check, how are they going to find the time to also
do that?

actually, i did send some info to phobs a month or
two ago, and it hasn't been added yet... there should be a
separate mod dealing with discogs.. and it should be an
active one.

it would be nice to see a wikipedia style 'open' discog. i
would hope it wouldnt get abused, but i have little faith in
that. it would be nice to have a bigger record bag, to shove
some stuff in there that i have currently not in the xlt
discogs...

for some reason phobia mostly picks mods who then almost
completely disappear from the board after about 3 weeks.

i was partucularly impressed with Teapot, after being made a
mod he decided to ban himself. then changed his mind and
created a new account.

yeah.. it seems to be a theme for mods to not hang at
the board.

the only ones I've seen lately are pomme and ohpecks. I
think xceque popped in a few days ago too, but...

anyway, if phobs thinks he's already got too many mods, he
should try removing the inactive ones and see how many he's
left with.

this place does need some fresh moderation. ideally mods in
different timezones so the board is always covered. nothing
wrong with the old mods at all, just that people who are
here more often would be more practical, as like now the
board is unmoderated and its all a bit silly really, but i'm
joining in the antagonising :(

2: liked by phobs

4: unemployed or
5: able to surf xlt at work
