XMD5A is one of my favourite Aphex Twin songs ever. I especilly love the haunting bells at the start and the lush synths that wash over towards the end. Listening to that song is like being taken on a journey. I think all the Analords have excellent intros (namely Phonatacid, AFX 04 Acid, Boxing Day, XMD5A..) and some of the lushest beats I've ever heard. The series really does reward the listener who is willing to invest some time and money. I found most of my favs (listed above) to be growers, and I just ignore the one's I dislike (like you would any album). Also, they sound sooo crisp and loud on vinyl... fuck mp3's. |
