Audio+Video

I am exploring the combination of video editing and music
at the moment, and it is an area which I feel is highly
connected and unexplored at the moment. However, my video
editing skills are completely useless and synchronizing the
audio is a complete pain in the arse.

Are there any artists out there who specialize in this
field? I know that Skam artists, Meam, did a DVD album, but
I haven't heard of any decent people who explore the
video/music concept in a big way. I'm quite surprised at
this, actually, considering the visual nature of this genre
of music.

Cunningham & Aphex?

Yeah, he made some brilliant videos for Aphex Twin.

But I mean artists that specialize in drawing the two forms
together; people who might produce audio-visual albums.

You think music and video editing is an area "highly
unexplored" Where do you live, your mum's anus?

Pardon?

If it so common, then perhaps you could reccomend an artist
who explores this area?

How about roughly since the delevopment of MTV? They have
been mixing video and audio since the early 80's.

I had some punk music show from 77 i think

*sigh*

Never mind.

I am fully aware of the fact that there have been music
videos for ages.

What I am thinking of is artists, who combine visuals and
music to form audio-visual albums, like the stuff Meam have
done, or the Granz Graf thing by Autechre.

I've seen a number of these things done by various DJ's in
the early mid 90's.

I thought q-bert was coming out with wave twisters. I
thought it was along these lines. I never hunted it down
tough

Right, that's what I'm talking about. I was just reminded of
it by your mentioning of q-bert and the stuff going on with
dj visualizations.

Ryoji Ikeda has done various stuff with it.

Who cares where your skill is at. Just hop in and
experiment. Save often and hit undo alot. Thats how i
learned to make music

Are you going to admit that you haven't the foggiest idea
what you're talking about, or just make out that "the
hipsters" conspired against you by inventing 20 odd years of
culture?

crazy? If i was bored i would do it all the time!

Are you going to admit that you're misunderstanding what I
am asking for on purpose?

I mean artists like Meam, q-bert, and others who do
audio-visual albums.

If you don't like the thread, leave it please.

i bet you knew (as i did) some toffee nosed in-bred at
school, the music "geekazoid" who was on grade 7 when you'd
only done 5, and boy would he make a point of it at the same
time you'd make a point of your girlfriend and your life
which would wisk his pretentious smile away quick sharp

Yes; you are suggesting I am unaware of the fact there have
been music videos for 30 years or so. It is obvious I am
talking about some else specifically and not music videos in
general.

Luckily I had the great fortune to witness said in-bred
grade 7 twats grow up into alcoholism, early death (by
beating), affairs with vastly older women, great jobs at
chemical companies. And, remarkably, not one succesful
musician among them.

Right, so we're expected to launch ourselves from the
premise that no one or hardly anyone... has
thought about combining music and film/video.. and not just
a commercial video... but a specific work of art. No one...
no one.... or hardly anyone.... why you might be onto
something here. I'm SURE it's never ever or hardly
ever been thought of. Why not get some one with MAD SKILLZ
on a video editing DECK to splice your MAD FUCKED UP BEATZ
to a an abstract video. That would be GREAT.

uh lemme think, 3 examples that spring to mind are

daft punk: Interstella 5555

lemon jelly's new album, as it is a dvd as well as a cd.

pink floyd - the wall

most artists work with different artists for the visuals,
its all specialisation innit. have you ever seen a
KettleRadio, or KettleFM?
no, its because its a stupid idea.

also most artists save visual experiences for live shows,
why? because 'watching' music is only really fun once. and
when you're dancing or nodding your head at a gig or rave,
you can go 'oooh'

No, I did actually meantion Meam and I should have mentioned
the Orbital DVD as well. I am glad you take such a
passion-less view of this stuff; but I happen to find it
very exciting.

Like I said-if the topic doesn't interest you, steer clear.
Hopefully those filters will sort things out.

what really annoyed me about that post is that you ignored
an 'on topic thread' eg. my one before last, and decided to
antagonise poor dog_belch instead. i couldnt give a shit
that you ignored my post, really i couldnt care less in the
world, but just what exactly are you here for? i get the
impression you don't care about Audio+Video but just want a
bit of attention. fucking hell.

I actually looked up your reccommendations, so thank you.
:)

I had completely forgotten about the Daft Punk release and
also the Lemon Jelly one.

I was actually trying to explain what this topic was about
to dog_belch. A waste of time really.
