First off......I'm not that familar with vSnare or Mu-ziq album wise but have heard loads of their stuff in various mixes, livesets, at gigs etc and i love them but don;t know the name of many songs.
the warmup dj's droid n slug kicked off the eveningwith some oldskool hardcore breaks... playing "Burnin'g'n Tree" tracks with "Druqks" tunes... some jungle mashups of "sledgehanmmer" and some twisted hip-hop. A fabulous opener.
Next we had mu-ziq come on with his laptop and baseball cap and simply played some amazing melody-driven album-tacks live. He made us all soar and the crash down with twisted jungle leanings. The tracks were'nt mixed togther but that was way fine
then the master...looking like the bastard offspring of a "Battlefield-earth" alien and Predator the canadaian giant got into his CD/EQ tomf-fOolery. Fully "live" or not.. its still
a relentless asault of disjointed jungle/gabba with a fella who commands a lot of stage presence.again i don't know his albums but from reviews i good hear he opened up with some gorgeous orchertrations that were probably from that hungarian album. this beatifull melody-driven begining led us down into the patened darkenss of previous outings and i recognised "making orange things", "chocolate wheelchair" and "printf" tunes - the only albums i have. Sheer briliance. His encvore
was fantastic as well... just the right touch and for once allowed by the venue. A 10/10 gig for me... picture to follow plus i minidisced the thing too...... watch this space.
