i never figured out why elijah wood asks jim in the
beginning (the car) what is he doing there, and why jim
starts to cry after that in the opening caption?

it's because, at that point in the movie's timeline, elisha
wood is already dating kate winslet and has already wiped
jim carey's memory. so he's like. "wtf, this guy shouldn't
even remember this place. is he trying to bone my lady?"
totally!

oh and he's crying then because he just dropped her off
after he heard the tape with her talking harsh shit about
him.
like harsh totally!

i weep as the credits roll every time. but i'm only kinda
wuss-ish because i only cry at movies. real life never
makes me cry.
