its a shame because i really liked draft. i thought it was
their best release to date.

Are you sure? Apparently you have to listen to it REALLY
loud before you like it.

its way more instant than draft-kinda more heroin than say
ecstacy

actually, it is meant to be played cranked up all the way in
your 84 buick set ablaze with the windows rolled up as it
slowly slides down a steep incline, and you have to listen
from a block away to get the full effect. the explosion
during the middle of the first track is fantastic.

this young electronica enthusiast is about to hear untilted
for the first time the way it was meant to be heard:
LAZY_TILTE

I thought 2/3 of draft was boring poo.

Untilted is my fav out of the post EP7 era.

my god your rite, but does it work with say a ford escort
maybe

I like it more than Draft now. I wasn't too sure at first
but the more I hear it the more I like it.

you can try a ford escort, but really it lacks the resonance
of the classic 84 buick. and even then, a true autechre fan
will only use a black or primer-grey buick. brown sounds
all right, and that's ok if you can't get a good color, but
really black or unpaitned grey is best. it really captures
the crackling fire sounds of the buick's interior and it
blends the best with fermium.

I like it too, but everytime I listen to it i come to the
conclusion that the end must be boring cause it stopped
playing and i havent heard it stop playing.

(yeah, i know, it's always been like this...)

I liked the way the topic title sidestepped the issue of
making another "Untilted" thread by employing the phrase
"ae's latest release". A-/B+ for ingenuity.

from what i've heard of it so far it just doesn't feel like
it has much of a point to it... i guess that's pretty vague
and not really the sort of claim you can prove or disprove,
but it's how i feel thusfar... all the tracks are well
crafted as always... but i guess when people said it was
more dancey-old school, i was expecting that there was gonna
be more of an explicit autechre-funkiness at its core, which
i haven't really found yet. in fact, this release doesn't
sound that much more accessible at all really... i'm very
confused... i'll probably throw it on again today... maybe
that'll clear things up a bit... i hope so

I find it lapses into old school dancey stuff sometimes,
then seems to get embarressed and switch back into "mad
fucked up beats".

perhaps for their next trick/album, they'll have three or
four completely different-sounding albums with the same
exact art, track titles and track lengths.

that would be awesome.

Untilted is a really enjoyable release and I find the
production a lot warmer and full sounding than Draft's. Even
if some tracks start off sounding a bit naff, they always
develope into something really interesting.

everybody says this album is a "Grower" which translates to

"i am going to force myself to like this album because i am
an autechre fanboy"

plain and simple, autechre is running out of ideas. This
album is proof of that. Draft was the final death rattle of
creativity for them.

I respect your opinion, and I respect autechre for finally
surrendering to mediocrity.
They can't be blamed, they've been putting out music for
over 10 years, it was just a matter of time before they ran
out of fuel.
