Reaktor 5

Heh... its finally out.

It looks like NI has finally finished its sabatacal from
making synthesizers... all those samplers and guitar rig
were really kick ass, but I was missing things like absynth
and FM7. Well, they just recently announced the release of
Reaktor 5, Some guitar synths that are powered by the guitar
rig engine, and a new synthetic drums package.

The guitar synths look exciting, and the ability to edit the
modules in reaktor looks awesome (I always wanted to open up
an oscilator, lfo or adsr and fool around with the insides).

This summer is going to rock!

I wonder how much it will cost... it looks awesome,
especially the drum synths.

They can't really keep on raising the price exponentially,
like they have recently. Its going to have to stay somewhat
approachable by basement producers who want to stay
legitimate.

The "newscool" drum machine based on cellular automata could
be interesting - the old newscool random ensemble is already
amazing.

The beta testers are saying that R5 actually uses less CPU
than R4. Not by much but that's still impressive for a major
update.

I saw it demoed in a video - apparently you draw a shape on
the left and it evolves on the right according to the laws
of the "game of life". Unfortunately the video had shit
sound. I'm guessing lots of Reaktor builders will be
adapting and using that sequencer in their own
monstrosities.

There is a controller unit that native instruments has
developed for guitar rig. Its pretty much a pedal controller
that has an audio interface, but you can use guitar rig
without.

I must say these look very impressive. I can't wait to hear
some demos and shit. the people who make these ensembles
must really have their shit together....I wish I could make
this shit.
