I know it's already been discussed but i can't find the fukkin topic. so what's the deal? it sounds nothing like the orignal crappy beck track. the vocals are completely different. the drums are 'fixed.' so did beck just record some vocals on a new BOC track? or are some of the guitars form the original track but reversed? lets discuss this track again or somebody post a frikkin link to the old threads thanks! |

i also found this, no thanks to you guys! Beck, in an interview with Clash Magazine from early 2005, mentioned that he had the group Boards of Canada remix a song. They remixed "Outerspace," and according to Beck.com, the remix was to be titled "Blank Space." However, since "Outerspace" changed names to "Broken Drum," this remix is no longer called "Blank Space." It is just simply "Broken Drum (Boards of Canada remix)." You'd think it could have been "Blank Drum" or something at least. Anyway, enough of that. What's the remix like? Boards of Canada's website calls their remix "melody-drenched." Beck himself says this is his favorite remix ever. When asked what Boards of Canada brought to the song, Beck explained, "Well, they brought something that was there, but then they just added a whole new dimension. I guess it's quite an emotional song and they brought out something bittersweet in it that was kinda hippyish, but it doesn't maim you with saccharine. It kinda gets you right in the chest." This remix will be a bonus track on some editions of Guero. Boards of Canada do take the song in quite a different direction than the original. Beck's voice is drenched in waves of synthesizers. I especially enjoy the ending of the song, which has a cool bassline and lots of percussion and a droning synthpad. no thanks to you guys! |
