there was not thread for this one?

this is the real deal, with no double cd . garbage and anvil
vapre are better on its own in my opinion, and this cd, was
not meant to come with the others

this cd is excellent, listening to it at the moment... I
dont have the vinyl so I guess I am missing the surface
noise.... but even so it sounds great

I like about half of it. The second track sends shivers down
my spine.

I do find some of it a bit too repetitive.

If you really listen carefully, most of the sounds are
slightly different every measure. It's expertly done.

never really liked tri repetae. i thought the EP's that came
before it completely destroy it in terms of depth. anvil
vapre in particular.

the subtle changes are noticable, but not enough for me to
care really. i dont really like the structure of a lot of
the tracks, and the melodic progressions arent that
interesting to me either.

it has gems on it though, and ill give credit where credit
is due. think my favorite tracks are clipper and c/pach. but
yeah, not nearly a favorite unfortunately.

i love it. it was the album that really turned me on to
autechre.

i heard track 1 in an anti-immigration political add on
national public radio the other day. is ae against eastern
europeans coming into the UK to steal all the factory jobs?
or was it used without permission..probably!

what the hell. and why was there an anti-immigration ad on
npr? was it a news piece about immigration?

the track was dael.
it was an article about anti immigration politics in the UK.
they played a snippet of an add that had a woman
complaining about all the immigrants coming in and taking
all the factory jobs and in the background i could hear the
track playing. very strange!

Jesus. I'd be fucking pissed off if i was them, i really
can't see them licensing a track for that. I dunno, isn't
there some rule that if the clip is under a certain length
permission doesn't have to be obtained?

no i heard that's a common misunderstanding, you can use
other people's stuff as long as it's unrecognisable

Recognition is subjective, you're talking rubbish.

Yeah, but at least 2 people here have recognised it. So i
guess either it's been used without permission, they've
licensed the track, or there is some loophole about clip
length. I'm trying to find some kind of copyright law site
at the minute to check it out.

After a bit of GoogleResearchâ„¢, it looks like there's no
"8-bar rule" about licensing / sampling music (popular
misconception?) If people can recognise where the bit came
from, then you've got to obtain permission to use it. So
either:

- It's been used without permission
- Warp made ae waive their moral rights over the music when
they signed the contract, thus meaning ae have no control
over where their music is used (pretty unlikely i think)
- Ae licensed the track for use

It's odd, i've seen a lot of warp artists' stuff used in C4
documentaries, but this sounds dodgy to me. Although channel
4 isn't usually biased in favour of anti-immigration
kilroy-style politics, so i might be making a fuss over
nothing. But still, to have your music played behind some
ignorant muppet spouting a load of quasi-racist nonsense...
must be a bit galling.

yeah this album has grown on me.Clipper is fantastic and i
love the sweeping synths on it and it sounds like floating
in space or similar.its about the little details in it that
changes and builds up that makes this album good.Dael is one
of my favourites to with its hunting sound.dont the whole
album give a space feeling
