This is a sub-genre I have never fully explored - although
I understand that Computer World and Grandmaster Flash are
included (on Allmusic at any rate). Could anyone
knowledgeable in this area give me some direction, please?
Ta Kindly.

It's early 80s to late 80s I'm looking for on the whole.

Check out Afrika Bambaataa's "Planet Rock" and "Looking for
the Perfect Beat", Kraftwerk's "Tour De France", Cybotron's
"Clear" and Man Parrish's "Boogie Down Bronx" and "Hip Hop
Be Bop (Don't Stop)" for some of the classics.

I've downloaded some mantronix, and also planet rock. I'm
using this album as an indicator.

You ought to check out the Electro compilations on
Streetsounds (they can be found on torrentspy atm), or just
the Crucial Electro comp.

And listen to k_maty and tolstoyed, they had great
recommendations.

Electric Kingdom by Twilight 22 is pretty dope.

Yeah, that's a pretty good compilation. Jonzun Crew's "Pack
Jam" is a great song that I forgot to mention. Oh, and
Mantronix is really great, but his stuff is more hip hop
than electro though.

The tracklisting is great on that, but it's seems to be a
collection of electro & old school hip hop.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't a rather large branch of
hip hop develop from Electro?

You are absoulutely right, it was all a happy family until
about 88, when the two went in different directions. But
there were still some connections between the two, like for
example 2 Live Crew or the Miami Bass variant of electro.
