Mulholland Drive's music

This is a very fine head-fuck of a movie, and I enjoyed the
wonderful direction and cinematogrophy, as well as the
lesbian scenes.

I've also got the soundtrack, which is brilliantly moody and
very original. Is there any film-noirish music like this
that has been released which isn't the soudntrack to a film?

don't pay attention to them, they're having circle jerk
time. Mulholland is by David Lynch. Look up his other stuff.

it's my favorite film ever. "Llorando" is the most
devastating song in the world.

angelo badalamenti is the shit but i dont think mulholland
is his best stuff -- i like the songs he did for lost
highway the best, they really stand on their own imo.

get the francesco clemente record, it's really good and in a
similar vein if you're looking for darker sounding
soundtracky but not sorts of stuff.

it's also questionable how much of the composition is
actually Badalamenti's.

Badalamenti normally delivers the music in "blocks", which
Lynch then plays around with in some form of music-editing
program.

sure, well what i really meant was i prefer lost highway's
lynch/badalamenti collabs to mulholland's.

can't say i ever bothered with the soundtrack to the beach!

there's only a few badalamenti-pieces on the "lost highway"
OST - those are pretty good though.

are we talking about the same thing? do you call any track
of music a "song" or just the ones with actual singing?

I'm not trying to be pedantic, I'm really confused.

I think you and I both know that I've served him a few too
many milkshakes. Enough said.

either too many martinis or the milkshakes have habaneros in
them.

I like the old 60s pop songs from this actually. They are
stupidly catchy.

Dum, da dum, da da da da da da da da da
I've told, every little star...

It's weird it's so good considering the fact it was just
scenes taken from a much longer TV series (which never ended
up being released as a tv series) with scenes added in later
by Lynch to make it into the movie. Mind you, since his
films rarely rely on a literal storyline, I guess you could
splice and dice them about and it wouldn't cause much
damage.

I thought it was just the pilot for a prospective television
series that was made into a movie after being shitcanned..

Yeah just the pilot was made originally, then they went back
and filmed more material to make it into a full feature.

So the story was nothing like originally planned then?

Lynch doesn't let on much at all in interviews.

If I remember correctly, the music comes in after 2 hours,
when the dream part of the movie ends. Then there's about 20
minutes of the real story. It's a great movie.
