i'm outta here for now, but with that i'd like to leave
behind the question whether anybody knows which albums of
Bowie are worth checking out,
rather no earthling, i thought outside'd be pretty cool
since it was a concept album
to show my graditude i'll leave you with the tip to track
down his collaboration with nin, but maybe you've already
got that

I would recommend "Low"(from 1977...incidentally,he
collaborates with Eno on this one, half is pop, half is
ambient)),also,"Scary Monsters"(1980).These are my faves,but
each to their own blah blah blah. }:>

Get these:

Ziggy Stardust, of course
Diamond Dogs(his early funk stuff)
Young Americans(more funk)
THe Berlin Trilogy with Brian Eno
-Low
-Heroes
-Lodger(not necessarily this one though)
-Reality(my favorite of his new stuff)

Low is by far the best Bowie album i've heard

Low and Lodger are my favorites, and Young Americans is a
close second or third or whatever. Never cared too much for
Aladdin Sane or Ziggy, for some demented reason. I hate his
weird face.

I didn't like that album much at all. In fact, he's put out
a lot of boring albums in the past 20 years. Old men suck at
music.

yeah, he's releasing way too much, i think he could easily
reduce that and out out better albums as a whole...

i watched his gig couple of nights ago and it was
brilliant...but it was like best of or something...if he
played only stuff from one album it would be pretty dull

offline GIR from Easton on 2004-01-06 18:41 [#01021287]

i thought reality was more refreshing than the other albums
of late...but its quieter, which hasnt been his style much
up until now....now his stuff has quieted down..which
catches old listeners offguard when they expect more in your
face stuff, and then there are the enoheads(myself
included), but i manage to love his new work as well....i
just love the guys voice...especially in Reality...its so
fragile but powerful at the same time.

I had read somewhere that Radiohead were going to follow
David Bowies lead by releasing lots of albums in relatively
short periods... but I haven't noticed them doing this...

haha, yeah I realized after I wrote that message that
tolstoyed wouldn't care much about that... but other
Radiohead fans might...

I only replied to him because he mentioned about how Bowie
releases too much...
