Are you religious?

I WANT to be religious, and in fact, I go to church every
Sunday and take very slight offense when people diss
Christianity/Catholicism (and it's the hip thing to do), but
I'm not sure if I myself believe. I like the aesthetics of
it and I like the general idea, but it'll probably take me a
couple more decades to make sense of things. It hasn't been
a bad experience being pseudo-religious, so if someday I
drop out of it, I won't have any regrets/ill feelings about
the years I spent ''practicing'' it.

I don't ever want to be ''born again'' or hardcore C or
anything like that.

if you're only "pseudo-religious" I don't see how you could
take very slight offene to people dissing it, seeing as you
don't seem to be taking it very seriously either.

Dissing christianity isn't hip - it's been going on for
centuries. It probably has something to do with the fact
that it was cobbled together from other religions and has
been showing its ugly, rigid and uncompassionate side too
prominently for too long.

I feel like there's no way of knowing one way or another, so
there's a good chance time spent on the methodology of
religion is quite likely wasted time.

there's more to curiosity than Religion. Just because we
probably won't ever know EVERYTHING (not as humans) doesn't
mean we can't discover things which will vastly improve our
time here on earth.

besides.. there's plenty of other things i can meditate on.
like, i wonder what color that girl's panties are?,
or could i throw a rock all the way to the other side of
that hill?

''if you're only "pseudo-religious" I don't see how you
could
take very slight offene to people dissing it, seeing as you
don't seem to be taking it very seriously either.''

Doens't matter that it doesn't ''seem'' like I'm taking it
seriously. Don't take everything I said literally, pseudo
isn't the right word, I just happened to choose to use it
that particular moment. I'm not a fake Christian, I take it
quite seriously, but I have a very open mind. I might be a
Christian forever.

Pauly Wog- every religion is chock full of ugly,
uncompassionate people, most religion has a tainted past. No
Christian I know (and EVERYBODY around me is a Chrisitan) is
''evil'', though obviously they do exist. It's not the
religion, it's the people that practice it. Christianity
does nothing but good where I am, but there's always going
to be some powermad meanie in a more volatile environment or
position that does his own version of God's work for him,
and all hell breaks loose. And since we're the most
prominent/powerful (I think) religion, unfortunately we'll
always do the most damage by default. I'll never deny
Christians have caused a LOT of fucking carnage over the
years.

God hates humble things like panties and rocks. You will
only find real spirituality in gilded steeples and
jewel-encrusted books.

i am Christian, but i dont want to talk about how/why i
am...i dont want people here to tell me im wrong or find
fault in the Bible or remind me of bad things that i or
other Christians have done....

but i do beleive at least part of the Bible is outdated, and
i have adapted my faith accordingly.

Im a Gnostic (not to be confused with agnostic which
literality translates to unknowing), I believe there are
truths in every "religion". I tend to follow christianity
the most... although I do think it is full of hipocrisy, as
is all organized religion. I think that if you follow what
your heart tells you, you are more spiritual then those who
go to church everyday for the sake of going to church.
I do enjoy studying all types of theories and beliefs.
particularly that of Magdalene ( The Tower) and the various
occult rituals such as the ones the knights templars and
freemasons practiced. True Pagan thought, also interests
me.

A really good book revolving around such topics is "Holy
Blood Holy Grail" Although some christians might be offended
by it.

It even talks about Rennes Le Chateau which is worth writing
a book on all by itself. You should see the church that
this "crazy" catholic priest built

if anyone is interested I could show some links to the
pictures

Funny you should say that, because I do think there is truth
to that as well.

I think religion should prove meaning in life to oneself.
not proving our selfworth to everyone else thru
religion...which is what most religions have become

so if no spiritually is what you think is right and this is
what life has guided you to, how could it be wrong?

everyone is different that is what is so great

I guess you're right but I wouldn't say should or shouldn't.
I mean, personally, fiction is for entertainment purposes.
No reason to be all serious with it.

Can some peole who are not interested in spirituality give
some reasoned arguments as to why? The religious people here
have been interesting and respectful, while others have just
said things like "spirituality is shit."

*sorry, I didn't mean "religious people"-that has negative
connotations (and I'm not even religious at all.) I meant
people with a vague belief in something more-be they
christians/buddists/agnostics etc.

Why should I be interested in spirituality? Then I can tell
you why I'm not. This question comes up, similar from
christians "Gee! Why don't you believe in God?" Hmm. Give
me a reason and I'll tell you why it's wrong.

Can you stop assuming I am dictating things? I didn't say
you SHOULD interested in spirituality in the first place, I
am INTERESTED in knowing about your beliefs, because I
generally find the reasons behind various beliefs
interesting. It's as genuine as that. Where did I ever
fucking state that atheists should be this or that?
