when i installed xp pro on this one machine it didn't remove win2k. now during boot up i am prompted to choose the os i wan tto load. ive got it set to pick xp immediately, but i don't care, I just want win2k offa there. anyone had to deal with this before?

aha, i got it
msconfig utility, boot.ini - "check all boot paths" - this looks for dual boot and offers to remove it.
sweet.
now how do i get rid of the files? can i just delete the windows folder?

If you just go to the control panel, choose system, then the advanced tab then go to start up and recovery section and choose settings, there as an option to edit the startup file manually.
Just remove any references to W2K from that file (so you only have Windows XP details left) and the bootloader won't show any more.

Be careful just deleting the folder because you may delete drivers and shit that you still require, you should be OK though.

id reccomend reformatting the partition wink2k is on, if you can bother to copy everything else over, but if you dont wanna the above will do fine

Oh well fuck me nvm you got it Personally I'd use a bootable linux distro to get rid of the 2K partition... Shouldn't XP see it already though?
There's a few good free partition managers out there as well...
Try the "Ultimate Boot CD", Bootdisk, or Bart's PE You can make your own custom environment with Bart's
