The real humor of this thread is that it is an attempt by
residents of Canada and Finland to make fun of American
culture.

At least we have a culture of which to make jokes.

man, you cant be serious with that comment. haha, american
culture? there is no such thing, its a melting pot of many
different cultures, there is no american culture in my
honest opinion.

Jazz
Blues
Rap
House

I hardly think they could of arisen in finland.

Man, i'm sure you got what he meant.
Of course the u.s are very important in today's culture.
But if you go back a bit, there's just the natives waiting
for the scum to arrive.
As for jazz, i'm sure certain members of the board will
explain to you why it's origins aren't purely american.

Yes, but those things dont have anything to do with
"american culture". People from all over the world moved to
america in the 18th and the 19th century. What today is
labeled as american culture is a mixture of many different
cultures of the people who moved there. Black people from
Africa where shipped to america to become slaves for the
rich white people. Black culture is a very big part of the
american culture these days. and things like Jazz, Blues and
Rap rose in america, but I still consider them as black
culture, not american culture.

I certainly don't need anybody to educate me on the history
of Jazz or the slave trade for that matter. The fact is
that America was, as you put it the result of a many
cultures trying to snatch-up a prize, but the fact remains
that in the short period of history it has given rise to a
staggering number of artistic forms that may be derivative
(what isn't?) but are also undeniably unique- the video
which is the subject of this thread notwithstanding.

i bet the the parents of that guy who is singing wernt born
in america.
not that it matters....its just that america's culture is
pretty flimsy if its there at all.

So blacks aren't American?

I'm sure whichever furry mamal first built an igloo in
Finnland came from someplace else.

And by the logic of what you said, why hasn't Canada given
rise to anything remotely resembling a unique culture?

is sappy nazi like propaganda that most patriotic americans
wouldnt even think is tastefull.

like it probably couldnt be a more shitty video.
how many angels, artificial sun glares, and american flag
seas do you need before you will see that the only thing
that we are saying is pathetic, is the video itself.
no ones attacking american culture so get off it.

The video is obviously a parady- though the production
values are staggering.

I am not some flag-waving crusader. I just like to rile you
foriegners up a bit. It's priceless when you say things
like- "its just that america's culture is pretty flimsy if
its there at all. " or " american culture? there is no such
thing "

when you are members of a MB that is devoted to music that
was born in America- with the help of white people even!

now that is irony!

and the fact you are from Canada and Finnland is just the
icing on the cake.
