right, 90% of the time i play someone my music, they say
its good, but should be used in a film/tv
program/advert/videogame etc.... i.e media music. i think
that would be cool, and a mate of mine just let me write the
score for his uni documentry he is doing...

but my question is how would you go about getting your music
released like this? should i just try and get signed to any
label first? or are their specific labels out there that
deal with this kind of music? where do i start, where do i
begin?

i'm really stuck as to what to do.

send demos to a few different labels, and see what
happens... ;)
(they're enough labels out there)
(sKam, leaf, fat cat, touch, merck, Rephlex, etc...)

i think your best bet is to seek out local indie film
production companies and offer your services. they are
usually looking for music that they can use for free, since
they don't have much of a budget to work with. but it will
help your music get around and it could help familiarize you
with that aspect of the business.
