I've finally perfected a demo worthy of a label, question
is what label.

best thing to do is to have a listen around and decide for
yourself, I think.

this is the only one ive posted, although its been
renamed 'montrique viral session' for the album, which also
has the same name so i guess this is the cover song.

if anyone who has a very well educated ear for experimental
electronic music and can rate the album in a non-bias
perspective, i wouldnt mind mailing them a copy. allot of
the material on it is different, some chaotic, some melodic,
one of them ive been told is the missing song on ae's
garbagemx.

yes, find a label that you think your music will fit into.

don't make the mistake of sending commercial emo mp3s to
planetarium records, for instance. the response you'll get
is sure to be so soaked in sarcasm-tinged disdain that your
mind, unable to cope, will melt into a puddle of
hipster-brain-grease and slide out your ears. for example.

I could only get 20 seconds or so. it just stops
downloading? Is it going to blow my mind or is it pretty
generic? How would you describe it if you heard it for the
first time?

really sure as to why

Are you asking what label might release your music, or what
label should you be willing to deign your music upon?

i've enjoyed many of your earlier stuff - those tunes were
really nightmarish.

this track is different for sure. it has to grow on you,
but i think it's rather interesting. i don't know if i
would compare it to ae, although the style and some of the
sounds are a little reminiscent... it's at times engaging
and visceral and at times a bit bland, but overall i like
it.

would a label be interested? i think labels need to assess
whether it will make them profit. why should they sign
someone who doesn't have much of a fanbase? most labels
want to know they'll be able to sell a product and are less
concerned if the music is good.

I wouldn't say that about small independant labels, though.

they're not looking to throw away money, but they'd rather
release something they really like themselves.

Exactly. A small label can afford to do a hand stitched
denim cd case if you like. It'll sell 65 copies, you've
lost only 20 pounds. Do a label yourself, don't wait for
some acknoledgement.

small labels too. yes, the small labels want to put out
what they like and usually do. but, are they going to put
up the money to manufacture 50 cds or 5000? they must be
able to understand the market or they'll be losing money.
so as much as they want to put out their completely-unknown,
non-touring friend's solo toilet-drumming ep, they do have
to figure out how to promote it and sell these records. and
the more popular an artist already is, the sweeter the deal
for the label.

I'm currently making a short film with my webcam with some
music from the album.

its hilarious and disturbing at the same time.

well, yes. but that's also part of what the artist thinks.

a group of friends and myself have been setting up our own
label (with all kinds of music, from classical, to
guitarbands to weird electronica) and Floris and I are
thinking of doing a cd together - it'll be a lot cheaper for
us! :)

anyway, it isn't that expensive to get a 1000 cd's
pressed instead of just 500, but we figure we would be
fucking ecstatic if we could ever shift 500 copies!

so we'd never do a 1000 (it can be very depressing - having
boxes full of cds all over the place).

in our case it's easier ofcourse - we have to pay for it
ourselves, so we're pretty sharp about what is realistic
etc.

JivverDicker, its as the description says in the thread. I
wouldnt say it's boring, it does hold your attention if
you've got good enough sound for it to blast.

dog_belch, im basically asking for a list of labels that any
members here have had experience with and can shed some
light on, possibly a link or recommendation
(btw the album is idm/glitch/pattern slicing/ambience)
nothing run of the mill mind you.
(ofcourse thats what most artists say:)

Combo, are you sure? You're not the one who thought the
first untilted leak was fake were you?
