totally different to anything i heard by him so far..real
great funkyness to it..i still haven't heard all the songs,
but the ones i've heard sound awesome..sort of retro feel to
them..jamiroquai and terence trent d'arby on vocals. not
really, but it reminds me of them quite a bit :)

brilliant guy!

agreed... you know it's not that dissimilar to his
super_collider stuff though (in so far as he's doin' the
soul singer thing... certainly this album has some more
traditional stuff on it... but not exclusively)...
definitely lookin' forward to hearing more of this album...

damn, this albums is SWEET!!

'a little bit more' being my favourite song for the
moment..'newme' sounds almost like a james brown song.
another brilliant one is 'the city' the video of which is on
that warp videos dvd. the only song i don't dig atm is 'game
for fouls', it just doesn't go anywhere, but the other 9 are
excellent so this is definitely going to be one of 2005
highlights for me..and on top of it all it's a non
depressing, uplifting album.

yes, definitely..the first one was real hard to get into and
it's a bit weird, while this is almost straight
soul/electronica sort of thing :)

it wasn't a joke at all..some parts definitely sound like
terence. it's really totally different to muddlin gear.
yes get it, but it is going to take you a while because my
internet is acting weird lately..

jamiroquai & james brown style :)

that 'the city' song you lnow (i think) is the most alike
classic lidell, all the other songs a quite
different..personally i like all those i named above so that
may be the reason i like this a lot :)

i'm disappointed. there's nothing new here, just the old
funk.
i really wanted muddlin gear pt 2, updated, with more
vocals, but with more new music too.

Is there any 'daddy's car' type sounds on here? I loved the
mood of that song I thought he could go a long way with that
kinda sound.

on listening to it for the first time - all that "white boy
funky shit" isn't very convincing.

and I really dislike funk.

"the city" and "a little bit more" are the only ones I like
at the moment - subject to change, though.

yeah, Lidell as soul-funk crooner definitely takes some
getting used to (when i first heard Super_Collider i assumed
it was a black dude, and so he'd sort of already won me over
by the time i found out... and really all of this is very
unfair and racist, but at least we can be upfront about
it)... i haven't listened to this one very much yet, but the
more straight-up revisitations of old funk definitely made
me feel a bit leery... but by the time the third track rolls
around, he starts pushin' into more "new-ish" territory,
which i enjoyed a lot more... the jury is still out...

well, perhaps only a little..that is still my favourite song
of his and i wish he would do more stuff like that..the
majority of this new album is quite different though, it's
much more conventional soul oriented, it's great i think,
but i still prefer that daddy's car style of him singing.

yeah, he could definitely make it sound a bit more newish, i
mean i'd love that..he starts pushing towards that direction
in some songs but then sort of lets go..not sure why..i hope
it isn't for the sake of getting more into mainstream. i
love the alnum non the less though :)

i loved muddlin gear, but from your descriptions his new
album is gonna suck...i dont want any more soul, i wanna
hear what he is best at- weird electronica!

well, those songs where he does vocals on muddlin gear were
my favourite, but still, i wish some of the songs on
multiply would sound a bit more electronic..it's an awesome
album never the less though!

I don't like it at all. It sounds like he just decided to
make some oldsk00l soul/funk/stuff/music without really
adding anything to it, meh.

to add more electronic components to the tunes, but i think
it's still quite lovely.
