G3
Queuing and downloading of multiple torrents. (Starting, stopping, pausing, queue up, queue down etc)
Real-time list of peer addresses and their statistics. Reverse DNS toggle-able.
Advanced Progress bar graphically illustrates which pieces of the file have been downloaded.
A graph to display upload and download rates over time. Each torrent being downloaded has it's own graph record.
Optional Web Interface for remote adminstration. Friends Priority System. Friends IP address can be set to get upload preference if they are downloading the same file.
Temporary upload priority can be given to peers by right clicking them in the list.
Peers can be banned by right clicking them in the list. With torrents that contain multiple files: The user can select the order they will download in. This is usefull in cases where you only really want 1 file in the torrent.
Or need certain files to arrive before others. The client will not reject peers who want to upload but do not have pieces from the file that has the immediate download priority.
Or they can be downloaded in a random order. (Rarest pieces first algorithm not withstanding)
In most cases this is the best strategy. As it is benefits the overall health of the torrent by keeping a wide range of pieces available, and reduces reliance on seeders.
"Fast Resume" capability. When restarting or resuming, the client will automatically reconnect to all of those peers you were connected when you either exited the client or paused a torrent.
Detailed message view for statistics and error reporting. System tray icon graphically displays upload download statistics.
Peer list view can identify and display what client the peer is using. (Azureus, Shadow, and other clients that identify themselves uniquely)
Can be set to use user customizable folders for storing torrent and incoming files.
User customizable automatic stopping criteria. Torrents can be set to stop:
etc..

G3 is something that makes me truly happy. Try a couple of different ones and find the one that is the best for you. Its the best way.
I've noticed that people either go with azureus, G3 or BitComet

i too use bitcomet. its nice. have'nt tried that many clients though, bitTornado is quite good too, but it needs a loooot of memory, if you run multiple downloads at the time...

I've been pleasantly surprised lately how good Java programs are getting. Either the latest Java VMs are faster or the developers are getting better or probably both.

I used to use bittornado for a while but I've switched to Azureus and it's *much* better. Great in fact. Despite needing the Java VM. It looks snazzy and lets you do all you need to do - and more!

It's the memory side of things I don't like. Azureus left running eats up about 75% of the used memory. And sometimes leaves me with about 20meg free. 1bg RAM shouldn't go just like htat.

Hm, I'd suspect it's more the way the app is written than Java. It's probably caching everything downloading / being shared in RAM instead of doing disk IO.
I run HUGE Java apps like Eclipse and Jdeveloper and their memory usage rarely gets above 100 megs. If I force garbage collection it goes back down to 20 or so.

You've got a point there. I'm normally downloading 2 1gb+ files with some more queued up. I've set it so that if my speed goes below 15k another starts. I've had 7+ running before now so that could be something to do with it. Not to mention the ones i'm seeding!
