.. this time not moaning but just asking for some help -
1) does anyone know how to turn off the keyboard shortcut that exits a firefox window (or maybe a tab, i dunno which but it's annoying as fuck and i'm not gonna give it a whirl now to test it) when you press CTRL-W ? I use pico/nano sometimes on linux and after i've been using it i'll hit CTRL-W instead of CTRL-F in firefox to try to find something in a page and it just all goes to hell.. very annoying..
2) why aren't shockwave / flash yokes playing. the fucking bastards. i've installed shockwave and flash for firefox (Netscape/mozilla, really) and they still don't play. been like this for months. i have to open IE every time i want to view something of this nature and this too is very annoying
apart from that, yay for firefox eh? :D

shockwave / flash items should have a 'download this plug in' image if they you've not got the write software installed in firefox.
not sure that keyboard shortcut can be changed.

yea that came up a long time ago, i downloaded and installed and hey presto all i get is a blank. nothing at all.
and it sucks cause i used to have this cool extension (not installed anymore) that displayed a play button on all flash animations so you could choose what you wanted to see (like a nifty extra ad blocker)

I'm lucky, the "w" and "f" aren't that close to each other on my keyboard.

1) maybe try this extension
2) i don't really know... you could have a conflict with one of your other extensions, or you could have a corrupt profile, or your plugin directory could be fuxXored somehow.
try uninstalling all of your extensions and reinstalling them one at a time.
if that doesn't work, close your browser, go to your install directory [c:\program files\firefox], go into the \plugins\ folder, and delete everything... then restart firefox, go to a page that uses flash, and reinstall it using the yellow info bar.
if that doesn't work, delete your profile directory in [docs and settings], and restart the browser (you'll have to reinstall your extensions if you do this.).
if none of that works, uninstall firefox, delete your profile directory completely, then reinstall it.

you'll probly want to export your bookmarks before you delete your profile.
Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks > File > Export
you can re-import them the same way, once you reinstall everything.
