I remember hearing about a Beck album where every measure
is different and packed full of detail. Kinda like teh IDM
of Beck albums... anyone?

No, not odelay. I remember reading an interview or something
where they talked about how no two measures are alike.

no two measures are alike? in what sense? if it is
supposed to mean constant progression in every measure (with
no looking back), then i declare shenannigans becuz that's a
beck record i've never heard of and i've got most of them.
or maybe he just means he played it real sloppy-like?

no, like theres patterns that repeat and stuff, but if you
were to cut up the patterns and compare them, theres like
background noise and samples and shit that make every
measure different from each other.

that's what i thought, and it's the observation i had made
about odelay a year ago... the music is as you describe.

i am not sure, no. but what you said here: "if you
were to cut up the patterns and compare them, theres like
background noise and samples and shit that make every
measure different from each other. " that's almost my exact
thoughts on the odelay lp. and i don't think mellow gold is
like that.

yeah kinda the equivilent of drukqs or a Funckarma track.
Just little details and stuff that makes each bar unique. A
buddy of mine knows, but it'll be awhile before I can ask
him again.

i didn't like the album for years, and then once i realized
this element of it, i started paying more attention and that
got me to really like it.

there's also a lot of samples on this album. one of my
favorite riffs on it is this beautiful, lush sound that this
track towards the end is built around (not sure which one)
and it turns out that the whole thing is a long sample from
an old record. :/ but it's still pretty cool.

i find it great, but i never really got into odelay. and i
bought odelay when i was 9 or 10 because i liked "where it's
at" and "devil's haircut".

as did i (although i was older than that), but then i
realized that it has a lot of good songs on it... now i
think i'm sick of it.

it IS just your fucking opinion and NOT a
fucking fact you pretentious stupid fuc.... em, sorry, i
lost control.

: )

(but really, i hate it when people pretend their opinions to
be objective facts : P religious fanatism, among others,
comes from something similar, confusing beliefs with
facts... it doesn't make you seem any more credible, it's
just more likely to start quarrels.)
