Anyone here construct/paint/collect pewter/plastic
tabletop miniatures, namely Warhammer and Warhammer 40k?
I've been in and out of it throughout the years, but
recently I've been constructing a (WH40k) Tau "killteam"
which is turning out badass. I don't even play the actual
warhammer game with an opponent (though I used to).The true
joy for me is all the custom conversions my roomate and I
make, and also the feeling of pride after a finishing a
nicely painted miniature. I'll post some pictures here
eventually if I can upgrade my account again, assuming that
someone here shows any interest. =P

by the way, yes I know I am a nerd.

Posting some pictures is a good idea to help the ignorant
people like me to understand what the warhammers and
tabletop miniatures are. .. i may try searching the
interntet for the answer as well.

I used to be into WH40K (got all 3 versions, including the
original hardback!) Originally collected Blood Angels
Marines, then with the latest edition switched to Dark Eldar
(I'd always liked eldar, but they were a bit too namby pamby
and elfish for my liking).

"by the way, yes I know I am a nerd."

People always take the piss, probably because of the
Dungeons and Dragons types that take the game a bit
seriously, but it's a good laugh. I've not played in years,
but even after I stopped playing I carried on doing the
minatures. I've stopped that too now. I was reasonable at
painting them, but my real passion was doing conversions.
I'm glad I did it, it has taught me patience, as well as
good "close up" dexterity. Still comes in handy for
mechanical work :)

Yeah, them making videogames of it has helped a lot in
making it be seen as "not just for saddos". The latest
rules revision to make the game faster works well and so
long as you have 30-odd D6s, you can fly through it. I've
noticed a general trend in each revision to simplify and
speed up- probably because our attention spans are erroded
with every videogame we play ;-)

i bought a set of those warhammer minatures, i thought it
would be really cool to stage tiny battles...then i got home
and opened the box, and realized i had to paint them
myself!
screw that!

well, those dwarfs with rifles allways made me laugh. aswell
as sorcerers with pistols. thats just too much , you know,
simple creatures without those high-tech would be sweet.
with all of that gear - just funny.

yes a few years ago i bought some warhammer stuff too
(lizardmen) but i sucked at playing the game and sucked at
painting the figures, and then it got too expensive so i
gave up.

Gasp, Imperial asssasin takes on Dark Eldar Incubi!

As much as I like those pointy headed evil creatures, I fear
the Incubi's days are numbered (unless that's a converted
Tau, in which case its head will soon be on a pole)...

when i was really young, i used to play warhammer 40k with
other people. but mostly we played command decision (it was
more about tank battles and more grounded in reality). i
was rather good at that game. i liked to paint some of the
miniatures, but i never collected them or got really into
it.

heheh, that's a tau firewarrior attempting to take on a dark
eldar incubi... and yes, the tau's head is about to be used
as an appetizer. :D

I'm going to take pics of my stuff and post them here once I
get an upgraded account... just because I know you all are
dying to see them. :B
