Radiohead's been on the topic list too. I wonder how the pop preferences constellate. What do you think?
Me, I think she's super. What hope have brainwashed youths without Björk & Radiohead and Spaceghost to bind it all together?

i don't think I could pick a favorite album, not even an un-favorite. song-wise, i'd go (at present) with "so broken" and its flamencoey guitar, or maybe joga or one or another of its remixes. Depends on how much melancholy I'm harboring. And that's not taking vespertine into acc't…

i don't really thinnk bjork, and radiohead are part of the brian washed youth culture. as a matter of fact, that statement kinda pisses me off.
i love bjork. she's hot. she's talented. and i was RAISED on the sugar cubes, and have grown up with her... she's like an aunt or some thing...

i don't wanna piss you off thanksomuch, i was just being silly. I'm (need I say it) very critical of "brainwashed" pop culture, and think it's great that artists like radiohead & björk have managed to infiltrate the choking corporate system of commercial success with their artistic and creative genius.

Bjork is far above Aphex on my list. I love everything she has done, but Vespertine is such a huge step forward it blows everything else away (excluding Dancer in the Dark which isn't to be compared with her albums, imo). The whole album is so intimate it makes squirm in pleasure!

It's not Chris Cunningham, but an asian woman whose name (like most names) has slipped my mind at the moment. There's a lot about it on the bjork.com site, though.
I like the cocoon video, but I really find it weaker than many of her others. Pagan poetry, though, wow.

From bjork.com:
"EIKO ISHIOKA is a revolutionary artist whose internationally acclaimed work for stage, screen, advertising, and print media has made her one of the premiere visual artists of the 20th century. Best known as the Academy Award winner for costume design for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Eiko’s provocative and shockingly beautiful vision can be seen on August 18th in The Cell, starring Jennifer Lopez.
Eiko’s long list of credits includes the 1985 Cannes Film Festival Award for Artistic Contribution for her production design of Paul Schrader’s film Mishima, a Tony nomination for the stage and costume design of the Broadway play "M. Butterfly," and a Grammy Award for the art work for Miles Davis’ "Tutu" album, to name just a few. Most recently, Eiko brought her creative sensibilities to bear on the conservative opera world with her costume design for Richard Wagner’s "Ring Cycle," at the Netherlands National Opera.
Eiko Ishioka was born in Tokyo and graduated from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. Her work is included in the permanent collection of museums throughout the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In1992 she was selected to be a member of the New York Art Directors Club Hall of Fame."
