April 5, baybeeeeeeee

I've never seen any of the original series. The idea of
gallivanting through time and space with a hot chick in a
phone booth is rather appealing though.

i thought he destroyed the daleks once and for all. then
destroyed them all again. then went back in time and
destroyed them when they were first created. then he
destroyed all the daleks in every parallel universe. how can
they be back?

the 1st episode that good. the background music which is
there presumably to add to suspense is comical. you're
better off watching old episodes.

theres like 30 episodes that have been permanently
destroyed, and no copys were made so they can never be
watched again...i hope that happens this new season as well,
it just wouldnt be dr who without some episodes missing for
all time...

i've neer known any tv programme that's been attempted to be
updated from long ago not become complete bollocks and be
ridiculed. ecclestone is a fine actor, but where's his
scarf?

i dunno, last of the summer wine has gone from strength to

last of the summer wine has been updated? it''s always been
the same dour sunday night viewing for pensioners for which

They seem to have done it with Battlestar Galactica.

I'm exited, I remember going to a Doctor Who exhibition in
Blackpool when I was a kid. I saw a Dalek and bolted, I had
bugged my dad for ages to take me and when we got in I got
so scared I ran out!

I think that a certain amount of cheesiness is always what
makes dr who so great
I liked the new episode, as well as billie piper :D

the first episode of the new series was dross.

I expect it to kind of suck - in a good way.

it sucks in a bad way.

they use fuck-ugly CGI instead of making everything out of
papier-mache - it makes it look really fake.

like I said in the other thread about the new Dr. Who, I
always enjoyed how you got the feeling this world of Dr. Who
existed - you could touch it, although it would wobble a
bit.

this crappy CGI takes that element away.

anyway - the first episode was leaked a few weeks ago and
can be downloaded through bittorrent quite easily, hence the
smug criticisms in this thread.

and when dobbin says the incidental music is shit, maybe you
think to yourself "how bad can it be, really?".

it REALLY is that bad, REALLY awful.

You are killing me. I was about to write something about
papier mache in my post then deleted it. Fucknuckles.

But maybe it's so bad it's good?

:: looks stupid and hopeful ::

order a peter davison story on dvd now, then when you watch
it and realise its really bad, the dvd will already be in
the post so you'll only feel half as bad.

dobbin is right - the old Dr Who's are magic, don't accept
lesser brands.

papier-mache is a great word. I plan to use it on xltronic's
messageboard more often.

I don't think I've ever seen a complete episode of the
original series, just bits and pieces here and there, and I
read a whole bunch of the books I found at a used
bookstore.

Is the incidental music as bad as the incidental music on
the X-files?

people need to realise that shitty cgi is the paper mache of

No, I think he's onto something. Can you imagine how the sad
children of today will someday tomorrow be nostalgic for bad
CGI?
