Some of you are still having the "No Photo" avatar. Very
clean and minimalistic but I guess Ophecks would like
to see some action on that point, right?

Changing the default photo to something mildy derogatory
might help that. :)

Do drag up a very old issue - can someone help me upload an
'avatar'? I am not so clever with PC stuff. What is the
easiest way to change a picture's size to make it fit?

That depends on the following 3 factors: the dots per inch
(dpi) of the picture, the file type and the resolution.
First download "dpi checker" from sourceforge.net. If you
have windows you're going to want to get version 4.2; if you
have linux, get version 3. Just make sure you have enough
ram to install this and the drivers. You'll have to restart
your computer when it is installed, then change "dpi = 3" in
your config.sys file to "dpi = 4". Finally restart your
computer again, only enter bios mode. If your computer is
dell just press F3 to enter bios, unless your monitor's
screen is greater than 20 inches, in which case press F4. On
any other computer hold down shift and press backspace. Then
change every capital letter there to a lower case one
because dpi checker was made before the international
organization for standardization standardized how capital
letters are interpreted. Restart your computer again. When
you get this far let me know and I'll walk you through the
next step. There's still a lot to do but this will all
become second nature eventually.

open paint, select a part of the picture that's 60x80, cut,
open new file (don't save previous) make the pallette (the
white stuff) less then 60x80, paste and save, done
additional: cut something relative to 60x80 (for instance
120x160), paste in the new file and go to menu image, select
sketch/skew and sketch x% horizontal and x% vertical (for
instance 50% horizontal and 50% vertical)

Even with gargantuan compliments like that you'll never be
promoted back to moderator. Sheesh.

Open the Dos prompt.

Type "c:/ format"

Say "Yes, whatever" to any prompt.

Walk away from computer.

Begin your life, anew.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is worth the effort. wmw's
instructions could have come straight from an IKEA
instruction manual! I wish I was clued-up enough to
understand them!
