ae's confield

I just bought ae's confield cause i liked their older stuff
like kalpol intro
or acroyear2 or vose in and so on;
i cant get access to the album, i hear absolutely nothing, i
think it 's impossible to listen to. Has anyone experienced
the something similar or am I only to weak for it?

(I also bought Care because you do and i like it a lot!!)

Give it a few more listens. When I first bought it I wasnt
very impressed, but it really does grow on you. Its not my
favorite AE by any means, but it is worth listening to.
Particular standouts for me are tracks 7 and 9.

I agree with Taoist. Not there best, but by no means is
anything less than incredible. If you listen to it through
a few times you'll probably begin to feel it. Then again it
may not be for you, but don't give up on it untell you've
given it a serious chance. Maybe listen to it, cool on it
for a while, then pick it up a couple weeks later.

i'm afraid of it already, what will i look like when i
finally like it?
i mean i've not heard a single beat

i wonder what their next album might be, maybe the sound of
nuclear plasma in the empty space...

well your doing quite a bit of jumping around, because
autechre completely changes its style when new albums come
out. Id say around LP5 is when i noticed a big change with
then, then EP7, etc etc and you kinda gotta get used to it.
If you jump from Incunabula/Amber to Confield, you will not
be impressed.

i know that it takes a while with all that stuff but they
make all their previous work sound like chillout music, it
will take years to recover it, it's so damn complicated

confield is a masterpiece... let it grow, let it conquer
you... but you must be open minded, dont expect it to be
like others in the past... go for the future

Whas up my man Nacmat!! Its been a kinda hectic weekend! A
lot of good stuff is going on, I got a lot of music projects
rollin hehe. I got mad drunk at friday night, dont remember
much from that night...SaTurday was crazy as hell
THOUGH!!!!..........there was some beef in my street...some
guy was screaming and bangin on the door of my neighbours
about some tape....I opened my window to tell the schmuck to
shut the fuck up...then some arab guys came outta my
neighbour's house, one started threatening the guy and shit
the other wrote down his license plate and told him they'd
deal with him later and the arab guys left...I was like
okay, whatthefuckjusthappend here and stayed put hangin
outta my window....after a while the bastards in blue came
to check out this ravin lunatic who was still banging on
their door......I rolled a nice spliff, just chilled outta
my window and checked out what that screamin fuck had to
tell the cops....turns out....my neighbours, a married
couple in there 40's with 3 children (the youngest goes to
school with my sister haha), make hardcore pornmovies in
there cellar.....at least thats my sick fantasies

Yeah Ive noticed that too D-Hex, #9 always rocks. I jsut
figured it was because 9 is my lucky number. Maybe the
record labels feel its key to put a strong track 9th. 3rd is
also often strong.

next Halloween I'm playing Bine/Track6 on loop mode on my
stereo and no kids will be brave enough to come near my
front door.

there is this one excellent part where it sounds like a
heart being slushed around in a blender...and i know slushed
is not a word

Listen to Uviol first, that'll get you more into it. Bine is
also good I think. Strange that you guys like track 9
(Lentic Catteractis or something like that..)the most, I
always thought it's the worst on the album. hmmm, maybe I
have to listen to it again...

Just because it's not in the dictionary doesn't mean it's
not a word! We had words before any dictionaries and new
entries to the dictionary are words before they make it to
the book.

I don't 'get' any of autechre records... amber is nice...
but RDJ made stuff loads better than that when he was 14.

anyway i'm going to try to like autechre.
i'll put confield on my discman 24 hrs looping to see if i
get anything... or shoulkd i try with lp5 or ep7?

Cfern was instantly the most prominent track to me when i
first came across Confield. i listen to Confield each week,
and as of now, no track on it bothers me the least bit.

offline Taxidermist from Black Grass on 2002-02-12 07:20 [#00086079]

My gawd, OK. Autechre has a stronger sence of sound depth,
song structure and production style than afx ever could.

And when RDJ was making stuff at the age of fourteen, all it
really was, was repetetive house music with heavy beats.
Nothing close to Ae.

But try Lp5 or Ep7 before you try confield.

offline OK on 2002-02-12 07:42 [#00086092]
Points: 4791 Status: Lurker

my "gawd" autechre has a sense of song structure?

then why the fuck won't they use it in practice?

"And when RDJ was making stuff at the age of fourteen, all
it really was, was repetetive house music with heavy beats"

[sarcasm]yeah you're right amber isn't repetive at all it's
like the track totally changes so fast! they never use the
same sounds 2 twimes in a track[/sarcasm]

if sense of sound depth is: getting a loop, add another one
over it... then adding another one over those 2.... then
adding another one... etc. then yeah they're geniuses of
sound depth.

and please define production style for me cus i didn't get
that part.

BTW. i have both lp5 and ep7 (and confield and amber) and i
don't like them so i have "tried" those too.

no problem if you dont like autechre dont feel
frustrated...
try other music... but dont say they are bad, cos they are
tremendous.... sometimes i have the feeling that i prefer
them to aphex... just sometimes tho

i'm just poking at taxidermis... because if you are going to
defend autechre.. at least do it right...

i mean song structure? bah!

against aphex

i dont want those two compared i think; since yesterday
when i started the topic i've listened to lentic
chatechresis for a few times and i think i like it now;
bine doesnt give me anything;
i dont think aphex and ae have much to do with each other,
rdj does so many things, but Vose In (LP5 I think) is
uncomparable, also C/Patch from tri repetae (just as
girl/boy song a.s.o)

i think ae are very different from aphex

with track 9 i always picture r2d2 dying an agonizingly

i still don't see the point in declaring "Warp Wars" though.

Confield has really grown on me, it's my fav autechre album
now. No one seems to mention track 5, i think that's my fav
track right now. that rythm makes me go mad. And yea,
comparing aphex and autechre is just silly IMO. two
different types of music...though i'm not so sure someone
who isn't into electronic music would agree on that:)
