wtf... ?

LAZY_TITLE

rdj has /actually/ called songs after viruses?

that is so immensly fucking retarded. is he taking the piss
out of us or what - he can't even come up with randomised
track names anymore or something?

offline xf from Australia on 2005-03-06 10:14 [#01523370]
Points: 2952 Status: Lurker

on second considersation, rdj always /has/ enjoyed taking
the piss, so it's in context, i guess. it just seems so
fucking lame, though.

given, it's 3:45 AM in the morning so my tiredness might be
making my judgement go right out the window - anybody else
find this stupid, though, or am i alone in thinking this?

the more i look at the tracknames for analord, the more i'm
convinced this is all a big fucking joke or something. the
songs *are* good, though.

it's a trick, so we will think twice before downloading his
tracks in case they are viruses !!!!
fight against P2P goes on !

6 isn't out until april

Hmm.. id there an echo? the first post looks awful
familiar..

track names - dunt matter. the reason i think is an attempt
to stop people downloading the tracks. maybe. or maybe he
just thought they're good names. or maybe he thinks they
suck too, but he couldn't think of anyhthing else better.
like 'where's your girlfriend?', that's better. So is
'pissed up in SE1'. I like that for sentimental reasons.

Where's 7? They did say there would be 10, so maybe there's
no 7 at all.

i have a feeling 5 will rule. because it has 2 tracks.
fucked up nonlogic, maybe. call it a hunch.

Will a program like spybot or adaware delete the mp3's if
they have these file names?

offline xf from Australia on 2005-03-06 10:51 [#01523412]
Points: 2952 Status: Lurker

nah, they don't match on the filenames; moreso the file
content.

in reality the "names" of viruses mean fuck all, anyway;
they're just descriptions made up by companies that write
antivirus software, usually referring to a previous virus it
was based off, a string/word used in the virus, etc. the
letters/numbers after it tend to refer to the 'generation',
and what platform it runs on (win32, et al).

that's why most antivirus programs will pick up the same
virus as different names. most viruses don't really have
names.

i don't know, if he called the tracks something like /the/
various identifier strings used in viruses (which would be
cooler), i'd give him props, but to call tracks like this is
just terribly un-hip.

offline xf from Australia on 2005-03-06 11:00 [#01523416]
Points: 2952 Status: Lurker | Followup to xf: #01523412

to summarise that and to answer previous questions: no, i
don't think he's done it so people could download viruses
instead.

people who make viruses don't call their fucking viruses
MM.Melissa.R@Win32.K or whatever the virus companies want to
call them. fuck knows what they call them, but all their
virus might do is make "HA HA MELISSA LUVS YOU" show all
over the screen, and then the various places that find and
write antivirus software go and make suitable names for
them.

it appears rdj's referenced symantec's naming - man, he
couldn't even choose a decent AV program (norton antivirus).

stop over analyzing the track names. Let the music speak to
you instead.

who really cares why he named them, or what or how. Only he
will know and it shouldnt really affect our opinions on his
music.

rock on richard

offline xf from Australia on 2005-03-06 11:28 [#01523454]
Points: 2952 Status: Lurker

track names don't change the music, no, but they're an
important part of the final presentation; aliken them to
cover art on cd's, for example. at the end of the day they
don't really fucking matter, but they still are a somewhat
important aspect of the whole 'package'.

i'll still listen/buy (if they release them on CD, hint
hint) them in any case, but jesus i couldn't have thought
of worse tracknames to choose, really.

doubtful...if rephlex keeps releasing silly dub 2-step
whatever you call it they might need him to make something
new so fans will put money back into the label...they need
us as much as we need them. and seeing how RDJ is no longer
part of warp....or at least messageboard rumor has
it...they'll need every fan of theirs to keep them going.

when you produce a different type of music that has a

To answer earthleakage, this was originally posted on the
IDM list, apparently from some distributor or other. I'll
check.. ah, here -

"From: StaticBeats
Date: Sat Mar 5, 2005 8:17:44 pm Europe/London
To: Intolerable Daily Madness
Subject: [idm] Analord release schedule

Just got this from PBE. *Ahem* notice Analord 11 in
there. "

then the text in the first post

"Shimone/Justes

So, from PBE then

additionally, if it wasn't already glaringly obvious, half
my statements aren't intended to be taken as seriously as
they're perhaps being taken.

i sure as hell still think the names of the tracks are
stupid, but i bet the music is still great so it doesn't
matter. other comments aren't really relevant.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the records are released
with completely different track names than the ones
listed... other artists have done this (TOOL comes to mind)
to mess with the P2P community
