Videogames makers guilty?

Sounds like a gash idea to me.

People 17 or under?

Can anyone see the problem here? IT'S ILLEGAL FOR A 17 YEAR
OLD TO BE PLAYING 18 RATED GAMES!

Also, how about we apply the same to books and movies?

this is bullshit. pathetic people use games as an excuse for
their behaviour.

Yeah... i agree with that statement for when it comes to
adults.
But young ones can be pretty easily influenced with what the
movies, Tv series, and video games can show them.

For example, you hear stories of teenagers killing people
because they wanted to be a power ranger, or things like
that...

I can understand that videogames (modern ones at least) can
be just as immersive as films/books and if you were mentally
ill, the fact that you're doing the things in the
game could make it easier to confuse reality with the game.
But that's the thing, people who confuse videogames with
reality are mentally ill and it's not game manufacturers
faults when such people go mental.

I'm not entirely anti-censorship (Manhunt was bit near the
mark, IMO), but when games aren't that shocking, or at least
have a strong fantasy element (not many kids can get hold of
rocket launchers, or find aliens to kill in real life)
and/or the game has an 18 rating, there's really no
justification.

You'll always have loonies, they'll just draw their
influences from elsewhere if violent games are banned...
People who think by eliminating violent media, the world
will immediately become a nice, happy clappy utopia are
actually quite scary and the ones who are delusional.

I used to be into killing and shooting as much as the next
child killer (a killer who is a child) but I wouldn't have
even considered doing anything in real life.

For you to carry out your fantasies I think you'd have to
have something mentally wrong with you.

heh... am I correct in assuming this is about grand theft
auto? And the makers of grand theft auto reside in england
and canada? Good luck prosecuting that one in international
court.

Once again, a bunch of parents who are too chickenshit to
bring up their own children bring it to the government.

I also agree it's up to the parents. my parents would have
never let me play an 18 at the age of 12 or something

YEah... my parents didn't let me know what a gun was untill
I was in kindergarten.

Honestly, I am of the school of thought that art models
life, not the other way around. This is just another example
of ludites not really understanding what the technology is
there to do. The ghettos were around before san andreas, and
I doubt they are going to get much worse.
