but I can't do it with turntables (since I only have one,
and right now, recording on this comp sucks (the reason why
everything I record always has lots of filters and lo-fi in
my songs...), so to get the "feel," I guess I'll have to use
mp3s. I'm thinking of just using some xlt members songs,
but.. how do I do mp3 mixtapes? Is there anything that's
very good for this (old computer)? I use acid for regular
music making, and I guess it could be used for mixtapes too,
but... well...

any hints or tips or something?

"Traktor" if ur computer will run it.

i thought of traktor, but i think it used a lot of resources
on my computer. if you just manually-sequence mp3's in
something like cooledit you can get just as good results.

Will Cooledit match tempos?

MIXMEISTER is an excellent easy to use mp3 mixer

no, you'd have to do it by hand. it's not dj software.

I don't think traktor will run here.

If cooledit can do it, then Acid or soundforge can too, I
guess...

I'll just have to try my way then. I've beatmatched one and
one song with computer and turntable, but obviously I can't
record, as the computer playing into itself would create
feedback, and the inline is crap on this comp. I'm getting a
new one soon, hopefully...

ok...

I've now started it and I've realised I suck at making
mixes. I will, however, upload it when I feel it is
finished. It will be lots of tracks by xlt artists that just
fade out and in into each other with somewhat of an
approximately similar bpm. No special tricks or things like
that, I think... There will probably be lots of peak
differences too, and people will most likely notice their
tracks being ruined from being sped up/slowed down which
makes them sound weird.. would you say I should pitch the
tracks slowly back up to their original speed while they're
playing? I just decided to mix them all into the same bpm,
which is the bpm of the only track I know the bpm of in the
mix; my own... this means all tracks will be at.. 80 bpm...
I didn't use timestretch, since that sounded weird, so
they're just pitched.

if you're getting into pitchshifting, i say go wild with it.
add some scratching every now and then too. and cut in
excerpts of the crowd cheering from kiss alive!.

so I should just record scratching with no relation to the
tracks even though I'm using mp3s?

well, I get the bpms to match (I think).. and I now did some
stuff where I faded out and in bass and treble in certain
areas... what does mixmeister add?
