okay, i probably missed out on all the threads on this
band, but i just got this record, so play along.. if you
don't know, these guys are the new pitchfork darlings, best
album of 2004 according to them..... it's a solid record,
but i don't think the hype is justified. his voice sounds a
lot like robert smith (of the cure), the music sounds like
earlier U2 updated with grungier new york guitars and a drop
of mbv distortion on some of the vocals. it's good, i love
the track "haiti", but otherwise....best album of the year?
meh.

i like it a lot, not the best of the year by all means, but
still real real nice. other people seem to have problems
with its hype as well, personally i don't care, i haven't
even read a review appart from that one on
pitchfork..pitchfork is weird anyway.

haiti is the worst track on the album.

i dunno, with all the pitchfork backlash, it's true that
they overrate some albums and misunderstand others, but
overall i think no other site on the internet writes so well
about music and i would know a lot less music without it.

sure, it's fun to read i suppose, but i normally don't trust
their judgement..i never check out albums based on pitchfork
reviews - i sometimes check out reviews for particular album
that i like though..

it's a good album ; not the best of 2004 imo, but definitely
a very nice one

i spen 3 minutes on pitchforkmedia.com near everyday to know
what are the new albums/releases those days and for the news
but practically never read the reviews, which are biased and
irrelevant 50% of time

I couldn't care less about the hype, this is just a piece of
shit.

Except the very last part of Crown of Love. This is
good. The rest can go fuck itself.
