german sucks. norwegian kids are more or less forced to
learn this reduntant language in school (in addition to
english), while they instead should learn something useful
like spanish, which are spoken im many many countries all
over the world.

i don't mean to upset you but danish has been greatly
influenced by german and at times sounds a lot like some
dialects of german do/did :)

There are many reasons why i like it.

As forck said it is a very interesting language, and it's
influenc over the english language in itself can never be
underestimated.

Old english and middle english i think have very similar
pronounciation to german although the words were slightly
different.

Plus i am wanting to learn because i my girl is German you
see, and i have alot of friends over there. They were kind
enough to to speak in english as much as they they knew and
i want to be able to return the favor. So in fact if anyone
is willing to help me that would be awesome.

Was wilst du von mier??

obviously i'd be against it if it were compulsory, but i'm
happy to have learned it unforced. ... but in finland we get
frigging SWEDISH as a compulsory subject. even danish would
be cooler.

anyway, 05 is up to right stuff with his conjugations...

blah, I had to look this up even though im supposed to know
this stuff as a language student:

in german second conjunctive for weak verbs is just like the
preterites (past forms), which is neat.

sein, being a strong verb, has the form of
"wäre/wärest/wäre/wären/wäret/wären". the second
plural can be contracted of course.
(I take no credit for this info)
