"DJ's also find vinyl to be a key choice for the 'oldschool'
setup of a pair of 1200s."

so... djs like vinyl.. because.. they work on their turn
tables?

They like vinyl and the
the tables they spin on.

I've never found any need to use vinyl apart from when there
is no alternative. And the fact that you can't see what is
coming with CD mixing is an artefact.

there, we reached a solution. now everyone should be happy
except for the anally-retentive audiophiles.

everyone was already happy.

drunken, with vinyl you can see breaks in the song (i.e.
large changes in a song (drill nails in) by the physical
grooves of the vinyl.

i.e. seeing where a track ends, starts,

ill post pics of autechre vinyl if you want lol

no one respects a cd dj

the only time i'm ok with it is when its an artist playing
his own tracks in case of they are not available on vinyl

I perfer the acetate 80 rpm Edison disks I collect. The
sound is so warm amplified by the paper cone and the felt
plunger that is the volume control really maintains the
waveform and since there is only one track per side, I look
like a fucking magician ever 3 minutes as I flip a disc
over- and because I have to wind it, it is as analogue as
they come- totally blows away a cd played through my
time-aligned Dahlquist DQ 10's!

eh?

I was asking how you could do the same with a CD, as Dannn_
said... I've got enough vinyl to know that I can with vinyl.

I was just trying to sarcastically intimate how much vinyl
sucks as a recording medium unless you are a turntablist-
which most dj's aren't- they are just too lazy to set up
tape loops.

Vinyl is shit as a recording medium seeing and you don't
record onto vinyl.

been thinking about this whilst away from the net and yes I
did come across as a bit arrogant but it wasn't my intent, I
actually meant "you wouldn't say that it if you heard the
sort of music I play" rather than "I'm the best dj in the
world" so hopefully that will clear any confusion up, I'm
sending Giginger some mixes and hopefully he will host them
so you can all make your own minds up.

Why Not?

Surely if the tunes are right and the mixing smooth the only
thing stopping you from respecting them is pure stubborness,
it's what's coming out of the speakers that matters, not the
medium it's recorded on surely?

autechre have stated before that their music on cd is
closest to how they hear it when recording to DAT.

and yes, this was after tri repetae was released.
