i usually just see it (on the internet) at the end of a line that is about to break, meaning that the line shouldnt really be broken.
like when you see programming examples or something.

it means that something is not something, say if A is a set and x is an element
"x is in A" means x is an element of A "x is in ¬A" means x is not an element of A (an element outside of A)
like the compliment thing, ¬A=A compliment
whee

ah damn, i can access those from home thought it's be ok for others.
mm, it means negation of anything basically if you're talking infividual things.
so if p can be true or false, ¬p is true when p is false and vice versa etc.
and ceri, i know no architects. i don't know much about the department at all. i'm only a first year and quite ignorant of these things, and bath is great yeah /wickeds/. been househunting today (how interesting!), fucking hassle, one house had a load of musicians with synths and stuff everywhere. my story for today.

I vaugely know one bloke in Bath who has a good analogue gear collection, PHD Maths student. None of his housemates play though, so I doubt it's them.

thought i'm late i'd like to say it, too:
the symbol means "NOT".
if you for some reason doubted what other people said, this can serve as one more proof of the fact that it is really this way.
