Im so fucking excited for this! One of my favorite books ever, and I think it might actually be pulled off! Im curious whos doing the score...?
Anyways, heres the trailer. The only sucky thing is you have to watch a little commercial for Rum or something before the trailer plays, but its worth it!

its a great story, it has great mood, and the whole conflict within Arctor's mind... ending is also great. (being vague to avoid spoilers)
not to mention some personal reasons, which I dont really want to get into.

It's PKD. About crumbling reality (obviously). If you like A Scanner Darkly, you should like Flow My Tears...

Flow My Tears is also good and somewhat in the same vein but Scanner is much more haunting and tragic. It's more realistic(!) and hard-hitting than a lot of his other stuff because it's based on the lives of people around him. I love the characters and their insane chatter and the weird anachronisms, like how it's the future but everyone is into early 70s music and fashions and slang. Groovy. (Dick knew better than to do this accidentally so it's definitely a deliberate choice)
I haven't read everything he's written but of what I know his top three novels are A Scanner Darkly, Man in the High Castle and Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch.

You make a fine case, but I prefer Flow My Tears. :p Have you read the early novels of Mr. Dick ? They are really very good, even though they are generally not as deeply fucked-up as his later work. The World Jones Made is an hilarious adventure - really funny and insightful.

i remember reading that cunningham wanted to do something with this novel as well, then heard that linklater was doing it a few years later.
i love linklater's slacker. i think its one of the best films ever, it came out as a criterion collection package last year, the first time it got dvd release.
however i do not like 'waking life' at all, i think it was a lame idea and concept. and i think it was cheapened by the fact that they auto-rotoscoped live action and then added in random 'crazyness' to make it look wild and hand drawn.
i had heard that this would follow in its style but it looks much better, although it still wouldnt be my preference.
i think cartoons are for babies.

I'm not really a fan of his short stories - I bought a collexion or two of them, but never got into them - I much prefer his novels.
