LCC vs LCC

Ok at this point, this doesnt matter I suppose.
By now we know that Fluorescent Grey faked "version 2" of
Untilted. He claimed he kept LCC and Pro Radii, because
those were the tracks that everyone hated and loved the
most, respectively.

Ok. Well if we all have nothing left to "believe in, " it
seems many of you have jumped back to defending version 1's
validity, while choosing to ignore the equally well founded
"clues" that this still might indeed NOT be
a representative of the final album. (more on that later)

In any case, could someone please explain why it is I have 2
different versions of LCC? Let me be explicitly clear
here:

-LCC version 1 (that I had first) clips in its volume at the
end, the volume drops out throughout the track
unintentionally, and the entire second have cross fades
between 2 different songs in a unconvincing manner. Gone are
the old-fashioined AE synths, etc. I got this track late
Saturday night 2/12/2005

-LCC version 2 (that Flourescent Grey 'borrowed' for his
version) seems more realized then version 1 and although
exactly the same for the first 3:15s, its is different
throughout the second half and more convincing that it is
real.

So, the version 1 leak 'broke' late saturday. The version
most people got at that point is here (ysi).

I'm curious if someone can explain this, if version 1 is
sooooo real.

There will be no track called LCC nor Lcc on the new album,
nor indeed any of the titles made up by Phobia and Autechre
whilst they were sipping virtual lattes, wetting themselves
coming up with cliched IDM titles and waiting for all the
house-bound, would be Situationists to use the names to
title their own insipid DSP vomits and claim them as the new
Autechre album.

Apparently the track rob played was exactly the same as one
of the tracks off the first leak. But I haven;t listened to
either so I cannot back up this claim.

but is this a good or bad thing? I don't' listen to the
opinions of many people here due to vastly differing tastes
and the peoples opinion I listen to generally about music
off this board don't share my love of autechre. So I have
to wait and see myself in a couple of months.

its all bollocks at the end of the day tho cos apparantly ae
sent out that promo with fakes on it cos they knew arsehole
journo's would leak it.. so they can have the last laff.
wudnt suprise me, after all this IDM.

Apparantly according to whom? I think it is the typical
bury your head in the sand mentality of people who listen to
'IDM'. Smojphace was apparently Richard playing a joke,
Analord is Richard fooling stupid people into buying
substandard music (never mind the fact that I, along with
many other people, absolutely love the Analords), now
autechre are fooling people by releasing fakes. Given that
reviews are going to be written based on the promo version I
doubt they would send shite out. As I haven't heard the so
called 'leaks' yet I can offer no opinion of my own on the
individual tracks, but Tob Da Bank playing the track last
night leads me to begin to beleive it may indeed be the
genuine release.

the radio show supports the theory i put forward and indeed
why i think this will be proven true. its not ok to be an
impatient asshole illegally downloading any new material...
hopefuly this will teach us all a lesson... a lesson im not
prepared to learn. anyways, wheres leak 1? afterall, it
probably is ae, just not untilted.

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2005-02-18 05:49 [#01502856]
Points: 3718 Status: Lurker

as for reviews this baffles me... i still havent seen one
review of any analord and not a sniff of one for untilted...
if history has taught anything it is that these promos get
leaked, not reviewed.

They played a new ae track, whch has appeared on a leaked
version of the album this new ae track is supposed to be on,
about the time that tracks traditionally start being played
on Radio 1 (about 6 weeks before release) and it supports
your thoery in what way.

one is real then?

the first leak isn't all that bad, if you liked draft you're
going to like this as well, both albums are very similar.
infact there's a bit more variety on untilted actually so i
think i like this one a bit more..

offline ecnadniarb on 2005-02-18 06:35 [#01502898]

I didn't like Draft all that much. I found it a little
bland in places. I am still looking forward to the new one
though.

well, in that case lets hope leak 1 was fake as well :)
i too would prefer something more confield oriented or
something completly different. this one could easilly be cd2
of draft imo..

i find draft and confield similar.. and rather bland in
parts.. i try with them all the time.. not sure if i have
the patience.

i don't know..confield is my fav autechre album and pretty
much the only album/ep that i can enjoy as a whole..i can't
listen to draft though, those drumm patterns (i wish they
were milder) bore me to death..

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2005-02-18 06:47 [#01502908]

i see... how many listens did confield take for you to
become fav? i love pretty much everything BUT draft and
confield (although i do own them) so i may give conny
another shot tonight. im just so impatient, im gonna leave
it playing a few times i reckon and come back to you. its
mad tho because i mean i LOVE most of their other stuff! i
own most of their albums on cd now.

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2005-02-18 06:50 [#01502912]

hmm, i bought it when it came out, i gave it a listen in the
shop and apperantly liked it enough to buy it, but then i
kind of put it aside and started listening after a while
again. i loved some songs imediatly, but to like the whole
thing it was quite a long process :-)

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2005-02-18 06:54 [#01502915]
Points: 3718 Status: Lurker

the non-linearity of their later stuff kind of fucks with me
and makes me a little uneasy. its uneasy listening at times.
the beats seem to betray the melodies at times.. and it
sounds sooo techy. i just find it hard to enjoy, unlike
pretty much everything pre-draft.

offline Exaph from United Kingdom on 2005-02-18 06:57 [#01502918]
Points: 3718 Status: Lurker

sorry, pre-confield... although i adore pre-confield stuff.
however, the unique sound and rythm of their latter stuff is
fascnating to me, im just not sure if i can appreciate it
musically.

"the beats seem to betray the melodies at times"

that's what bothers me the most with draft and this new one
(if it's the real untilted that is, because it sounds more
like songs that didn't make it to draft or something..).

that could be exactly what leak 1 is..
