So many things are underrated and overlooked these days,
like the spleen.

"According to a 1999 study by the National Academy of
Sciences, arsenic in drinking water causes bladder, lung and
skin cancer, and may cause kidney and liver cancer. The
study also found that arsenic harms the central and
peripheral nervous systems, as well as heart and blood
vessels, and causes serious skin problems. It also may cause
birth defects and reproductive problems."

"NRDC analyzed data compiled by the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency on arsenic in drinking water in 25 states.
Our most conservative estimates based on the data indicate
that more than 34 million Americans drink tap water supplied
by systems containing average levels of arsenic that pose
unacceptable cancer risks. We consider it likely that as
many as 56 million people in those 25 states have been
drinking water with arsenic at unsafe levels -- and that's
just the 25 states that reported arsenic information to the
EPA."

LAZY_TITLE

how convenient that there hasn't been a study since bush
took office and the arsenic level regulations were
decreased.

It's the most underrated organ, you can live without it but
it remains still quite mysterious...it filters the blood and
stuff, also without one you can suffer more from diahrea and
other bowel problems...infections also arise more
frequently... it can get really big and explode if you have
mononucleosis for example... why am i saying all this?
google it, you'll get a much clearer answer.

"Cupcakes: Underrated and Misunderstood!"

cupcakes are really delicious. they're like a normal cake,
but you get to eat the whole thing - not just one slice.
that's because they're so tiny. in fact, they're so tiny,
perhaps you'd like to have two. cupcakes are the best.
that is why, in conclusion, cupcakes are underrated.

see me after class...

you know what else is underrated? gloves! where would we be
without that most marvelous invention the glove.

this morning i wnet outside and my hands were cold. but then
i put my gloves on and - voila! - my hands are toasty warm
and have huge smiles on their faces, all thanks to the
common glove.

yeah i understand

but who's underrating the spleen? well, there isn't anybody
praising the spleen and making a cult of spleen but nobody
wants to throw his spleen away, if you know what i mean.

If you just want to be a fucking pain in the arse then you
are doing well sir. I decide what i find underrated, if i
think the medical world ignores and overlooks it just
because you can live without it, it's my decision. For
example when you start talking about the spleen having to be
"overrated" or praised in some way to also be underrated or
whatever, then i find you are talking out of your
arse..again, it only implies me....if you know what i
mean..

I'll add to the story the fact that i am an ill bastard and
have been for some time, and lately my spleen has been some
concern to me. anyway i think the medical world is finding
new and interesting things about the splenn annd i'm glad. I
PRAISE THE SPLEEN.

offline hobbes from age on 2005-02-16 08:09 [#01500923]

and you know what doctors wear when they handle a spleen?
Gloves!

it all comes back to gloves!

yes, and once the doctors have finished using their gloves
to remove the spleen, they celebrate with cupcakes!

sometimes they fall into the patient's open surgical wound,
and when that happens, the doctors usually just play it off
like they didn't even have cupcakes to begin with. because
why would they bother getting them out once they're covered
in blood and spleen remnants?
