I don't buy as much of the music that I listen to as I
would like, but I still buy most of my fav's like aphex
(minus analord as I have no turntable), u-ziq, etc, mainly
due to money restraints I cant afford much more than a few
cds per year. That being said, I don't often gamble on a cd
purchase without first hearing it. Well, not so much total
gamble, as I knew the artist already, but you never know if
you will like an album you haven't heard anything about. But
when a CD gamble pays off big, it's the best feeling in the
world, and makes me enjoy spending money on music rather
than just music equipment all the time.

Oh, anyway, the cd was Owen - I do percieve. It's the work
of one man, he plays the guitars, (minimal) keys and drums,
oh and does the vocals. The guitar work is really mellow but
pretty technical... it's such a chill album and the lyrical
work is pretty cool for the most part. check it out if you
like, but more importantly what are your recent CD gambles?
how'd they turn out?

I recently bought a Sunn O))) album on the spot and lets
just say, I havent bothered putting it on my ipod yet. Its
kinda interesting but... meh not worth a full-price gamble
IMO.

no point whatsoever. you can hear most albums 6-8 weeks
before they get released now anyway. by the time they are
released you know if it's worth buying or not.

I've always liked buying records i've never even heard of,
it's great discovering musics you never knew about before.
That said, i don't generally do it with full price albums,
just piles of cheap stuff from vinyl exchange. It's often
crap to mediocre, but worth it for the gems.

I really really love it when it works out in my favor, but I
hate being burned on a shitty CD, and its a kick in the ass
even more because if I had just taken the time to download
it I would have found I don't like it and not bought it...
On the other hand, if I did download it and really liked it,
theres only a 25% or so chance that I will actually buy it,
so I feel the need to compulsively buy a CD here or there to
ensure that I will actually buy at least one per year. :)

i don't mind taking a gamble, particularly on albums by
artists who i like anyway, since in all likeliness i have
acquired an album or two of theirs on filesharers anyway...
i feel like i owe it to them either way...
