I've heard a couple of their CD's Tides and Atol Scrap.
They were both excelent. Sort of sounds like Autechre meets
boards of canada. Sweet, soft flowing synths with twitchy
beats.

Arovane is alright, not very original in my view. I would
get all AE's and BoC's records first, but if you have them
already I suggest Atol Scrap.

ok why does everything have to be compared to autechre or
whoever, get off it. arovane is a terrific artist. and if
you are knew to his stuff i highly recommend "tides" - a
very inspired album. i believe it features guitar work from
christian klein as well, whom is another great talent.

yeah and btw taoist, he was asking about AROVANE's work, not
Autechre or Boards of Canada. Chances are he's heard of
them already much like every other person that knows any
kind of shit about electronic music. sorry about that, just
answer the topic.

tides, i think, would be a good intro. arovane/phenom -
aer(valid) is the most recent and good too.

tides era arovane sonuds a lot like the old autechre sound
(tri repetae) with the hip hop sort of beat.

Good question.

few years ago?

What's your take?

good track.

I feel all nostalgic for those days when I'd listen to IDM
that made me feel all nostalgic about, well, I dunno really.
Nothing in particular.

It's IDM songs that make me the most nostalgic actually. I
guess just because I listened the hell out of all the Warp
shit back in the early 2000s, and that was when i was having
all my angsty awkward virgin teenage years (which sucked
balls at the time but for some reason becomes rose-tinted
with hindsight... ah those were the days!)

I say the same as others here, though. Got a bit of Arovane
somewhere - not very original (AE+BOC's lovechild) but still
quite nice.

Arovane is really goddamn excellent stuff, one of the
gateway artists I use to get new listeners to cut their
teeth on when it comes to electronic stuff.

My high school english teacher actually introduced me to his
work. I don't recall ever seeing much discussion on this
board regarding him. If so I missed it!

there is one track on atol scrap, he uses phantom beats,
like the kick drum and snare disappear and there is a quiet
clicking noise in there place, very clever
